frame for chevy

im wanting to build a ratrod truck with the shorter wheelbase like you see some have like 2 feet of the bed taken off. Would i have to cut the frame or if i use around an old 49 chevy truck and bed could i just use a smaller frame like an s10 frame? [S

I am thinking of doing the same type of thing you are. I have done some research on here and found that there are many ways a guy can go. I am leaning toward building my own frame from 2x4 inch and 2x3 inch tubing. So, as for a S10 frame vs anything else it would be a matter of cost, time and material. Then again, I have most all components to build a scratch built frame. My problem is my shop is full. I like the look of a spring behind front end and a four link rear. Probably not much help. My advise is go with what you'd be proud of and fell safe driving.
