front axle

who puts a good front axle together. specs. dropped axle chev spindles for disc brakes parrell springs take wght. of 500cad and 400trans want axle 2 inchs narrower than a 48 front axle. is this a doable set up? or am i just out of my tree?any adviceor suggestions appericated. thank you for your time robertbandit this set up would go under 39 chev 2 door

The Ford econoline axle and springs were a popular choice back in the day and disc brake kits are available for them. 2 inches narrower than 48 ford I'm not sure about that. You may have to have a custom axle made to your specs. Try Ron Pope Motorsports for best price and excellent knowledge base for custom made stuff.

How about a late 40's early 50"s truck front axle and springs. Speedway Motors and Chassis Engineering have disc brake conversions for those. I'm not sure of the widths.

Cadillac engines are not the much heavier than a SBC so weight shouldn't be problem.
