I godda say I am sitting home from work the last 2 days and cant lay in bed anymore so as I roll through some of the build threads I envy some of the garages you guys have. I have a 14ft x 36ft hallway for a shop. And in that shop I have to store in the spring and summer my bike,my wifes bike, my fair weather car, and all my tools. looks like I might have to sell the wifes bike to make more room. I wonder if she will notice. MAN I AM VERY ENVIOUS.[dr[dr[dr[dr

Yeah, a garage with some room really makes it a lot nicer. I remember when I was first married in 1969 renting a dirt floored "garage" to build my 32 rpu in. It had those two wooden doors that shut like a gate, and I was always worried about someone breaking in and stealing my tools and stuff. Then we moved to a house we bought but it had no garage so I built my cars in the back yard. (The neighbors were VERY understanding in that neighborhood because I was young and dumb and would work outside until all hours )

I've also built a car or two in one of those 10 x 20 storage buildings you rent. But I had to sneak in to do it each time because the management of the place didn't know I was doing it and didn't allow them to be used as work places. It sure was hot in there with the door closed !

We've been in our present shop for almost 7 years now and I am lucky that I split the rent with my 2 Sons. I could never afford this one on my own.

I have a 14ft x 36ft hallway for a shop.

I wish I had that extra length... I'm in a 15ft x 22ft, the extra room would be greatly apprecaited. I do have to admit I much prefer the 15x22 over the old 200x300 back yard I built my Jeep on. Now to figure a way to store the lawn equip and bikes somewhere I'd have a few more extra sq ft to put some more tools/parts... I think a garden shed is in order.

Yeah, I know what ya mean! Mine is 16 X 26 and if you notice .....

.....there's two vehicles in there :eek: So I'm a bit cramped and envious too:)

Murphys law, the more room you have the more you need. I used to have a fairly large shop. At this moment I have no room to work. Five cars, two motorcycles, riding mower, snow thrower, rototiller, and all the other stuff to get the job done. Not complaining, I am blessed to have what I do.....just need to clean, organize and throw away.

Ever see those boxes those English guys work in? Don't know how they do anything.

Didn't George Carlin do a whole bit on STUFF?

Seems to me that Carlin did a comedy routine about stuff and how you just keep filling up the space with stuff....[S

snakefarm, you win but if I had one 15ft wide i would be able to park the wife's mustang like you did sideways, the big problem is the wife rides a harley and if any dust lands on it she wants me to wash and wax it, that will never happen. i told her that if she does not ride it more this year i was going to practice doing wheelies with it this year. she said NOT FUNNY.[ddd

I had a 30x30 and then we bought a house with 15x25!!! we looked at a house with a 30x90 three stall.........house was crap but I was fine with that, lol

My barn is 40x60 and there still isn't enought room...

I had a 20x25 old carriage house/garage at the other house..... don't know how I did it.... in my barn 40x40 is work area and 20x40 is storage and where I let my Pontiac hibernate during the winter...along with the lawn tractors, trailer and a host of other STUFF....LOL..

flashback

wow just read your post and imediatley shivered our first house had the dirt floor garage complete with leaking roof ,multiple lavers of cardboard and plywood mashed into a oil soaked floor i remember pulling a trans out of a van that wouldnt fit in the garage snowin like crazy i piled snow up against the passenger side to block the wind ,,,,young dumb and broke think i made 100 bucks im so glad thoughs days are over ....so if your inside with all your stuff no matter how little room be thankful it could be worse ,,,and no matter how big your shop is its just another level of too small:D
