Bill, there is a discussion on "another forum" about steel cars vs fiberglass, and here is a comment made by one member:

I would own one if it looked like this 'glass car:

And here is the picture he posted. Look familiar??? :D:D:D

No kidding. That's funny. I usually catch grief from the street rod guys because the car is too ratty, and I catch grief from the trad/rat guys because the car is too fiberglass. I'll have to find the thread and take a look. Thanks for the heads up Don.

Wow. I'm suprised that came from that guy. He's the guy that built/owned the "Green Grenade" model A with a hemi. I feel pretty good about that. He'll like it even better pretty soon :D I've got some things planned.

Sure, I would rather have a steel 32. But There is less money in this entire car than a steel 32 bare body in really rough condition is going for these days. Besides, my car is no less fun driving down the raod than any other car is so I'm happy.

Yeah, I always hated it when someone would ask me "is it real, or is it fiberglass?" Or, when someone would comment "I'm glad to see you built a steel car instead of one of those fiberglass ones." Always loved the look on their face when I would tell them it IS fiberglass.........open mouth, insert foot. :D:D:D

people say funny things

At the local cruise nite last Sat a woman was looking at ratzilla and she asked in funny tone "did you drive that thing here" Myfriend who helped me build it said " No lady we e-mailed it here". The Ive been had look came over her face- pricless. LFE

Gastrick - congrats, told you your car looks awesome.
A friend of mine has a steel 34' 5 window. He paid $1800 for it. Car is channeled 7" and is full fendered with air ride. He doesn't like fiberglas cars because he saids there're too perfect. He can't win a trophy against a fiberglas car. I told him it was because his car was too perfect, people can't tell all the work that went into the car. I told him to build prop rods to hold the doors open so people can see the channel job. Lo and behold, he got "Best in Show" at Edelbrock.
Funny, most people couldn't tell my 32' was fiberglas. I was in the same boat. A steel car body cost more then I had in my whole car.
