GM front axel

Ive seen 30's rods with original GM axel and spring behind adapter and hairpin setup. Always wondered where to get such setup. Now I know. .Most have tie rod in front not behind it .Is this a must for clearance ? or can it be run behind ?

Thnx Old Iron . Yea they have the setup. Just wonderin if someone knew about the tie rod location, In front or behind ? and why ?
