I went to the DMV (actually the county treasure here) and ask if they had any news on my application. The ladys there are super. She took my number and called the capitol to see what was going on. It is going into week 4 since I gave them the last stuff they asked for. I guess things were a little backed up at the capitol. Anyway she called and said they had it all ready to send to me. I should have my serial number early next week, maybe even late this week.
Then I have to haul it to Rapid City to have the highway patrol inspect it and affix the new serial number. So in the long run, almost 2 months but I'm a legal beagal and no worrys. It really is worth following the process and being as nice as you can to the people you have to deal with along the way.

Now my next projects with no titles, the 58 and 60 F100s. I am going to abandon them at the sisters ranch in Wyoming and my brother in law will wait the allotted 30 days and file the paperwork with the sheriff. Costs $5 per and they run the title to see if there is a lien, then advertise it in the local paper for 2 weeks, then you get a title.
I couldn't do that on the rpu because it didn't have a serial number.

Loop holes in the law are sometimes easier than trying to do the right thing. Glad its all working out for ya...

Funny thing is, during the course of all this I found out there is still a 31 Ford coupe in my name. I'm pretty sure it was from when I was selling titles back 5-6 years ago. If the guy hasn't transferred it in 5+years, he's either dead or lost it. I could have just got a duplicate for that title and used it.

Isn't it a great feeling when you get that title in your name in your hands ? :D I always hold my breath while they are doing my paperwork and let out a big sigh when they ask if I want to pay the extra $ 5 so they can print me out my title today rather than waiting for it to come in the mail.

Looks like you are on your way, WB.

It isn't quite here yet and I still have to have the serial number affixed by the highway patrol but I can get plates at that point and the title will be on it's way with another 2-3 week wait.
I really miss Alaska, they printed the title right at the DMV when you did a transfer.

I'm glad we don't have to have a title on anything older than a 1975. Piece of cake to get a tag, just take in a bill of sale with vin number, pay your money, and go ride! You can get a state issued vin if the vehicle doesn't have one.
