Okay, the cheapest I ever bought it for was 25 Cents. I was not 16 yet, my older brother and I were on a road trip. A trip I will always remember.

I remember gas at 25 cents also. i used to mow lawns in grade school. I had a 1 gallon gas can and could fill it with a quarter. Year 1967-68.

I can remember when it first went over a dollar. I was working in a gas station in 1975. We had to call for approval on credit card purchases over $20. Had to call a lot of times when it went over a dollar.

Today I saw it at 1.479. Haven't seen that in a long time.

I remember in the fifties that dad would send us to the store with a quarter for a gallon of gas for the mower and we would come back with the gas and a bag of cookies and candy. Boy do I miss those days.:(

man ,, my pawpaw,, ran a station called the KO,, i hungout with him before i was old enuff to start school i remember 35 cents,, but what i really remeber is the oil embargo ,, when gas went to 71 cents and the long lines,, awe the kids today just dont know nothing bout the good ole days!!!

I didn't think I was that old :D but I can remember filling up my motorcycle tank for just over 50 cents. I could get plenty of around town riding out of that tank too. I rode to high school, work after school, and everywhere else for about a buck a week.

I drove out of my way to get it for 17 cents once just to say i did it because i knew even then it would never be that low again. Diesel was 15. Remember the first oil shortage? Funny how there became shortages on all kinds of things that have never been in short supply before or since.Sugar comes to mind.Coffee.Even glass, made from silica, made from sand!

Cheap Gas

I'm with you Maddog - - .23 a gal., we could cruise V.N.Bl. all week end and still be able to hit up Bobs and A&W and feed your face and maybe a drive in on Saturday.Heck, ya might even have enough to go to gravity hill and watch the sub races.

Gravity Hill

Well - -the only gravity hill I know of is right there in the good ole' SFV,just off of Paxton. Spent many of hours there.

I remember $.23 per gallon. A little over 4 gallons for a buck. That took our VW a looooooong way in high school.

Yeah, $ .22.9 is the lowest I can remember in the 60's.
You could always scape together enough change to get where you wanted.

And in my area, it was Signal Hill to watch the sub races..... :D

And on the way to the sub races we went to drain the unlocked gas pump hoses into the tank

Sub Races

And in my area, it was Signal Hill to watch the sub races.....

Would your area be in the Long Beach area ? You were more likely to see a sub down there than the SFV - - ha ha

gas

Right when we moved back up to Maryland from North Carolina in the Spring of 1998 was the last time I bought gas for 99.9/gallon. Never seen it below a dollar a gallon since. :( At least it has come out of the stratosphere.

So I see from the age poll that there are some guys 45 and younger on the site. I am waiting for the " I remember paying 1.20 for gas in my first car."
