I like old Mausers. That's a nice sporterized one. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Most of mine are 8 X 57 Mauser except one 7.62 X 51 NATO.

It killed more elephants than other cartridges because a professional hunter named Bell shot over 1000 elephants using a 7 X 57 Mauser. He knew exactly where to shoot them in the head for a one shot kill.

Nice lookin gun, but not so nice to be afraid to tote it. You should be able to enjoy this one without worrying about a few marks.

I figure if it's good enough for old WMD Bell to kill over 1000 elephants, should do anything I need it to do. Another under-appreciated caliber in the US is the 6.5x55. It is the caliber of choice for most of the European match shooting I'm told. Hopefully I will find an affordable one in a sporterized Swedish Mauser action.
I've also been tempted to buy one of those surplus Russian Mosin-Nagant rifles. They can be had for around $100, ammo is cheap and they are suppose to be a pretty decent old shooter.

I didn't have any guns for several years and decided I should buy about one a year. 2 years ago I got a Sharps 45-70 and didn't get anything last year. And now I trade one gun for the diesel Nissan so I can get three this year!!

Elephants are a problem everywhere. Saw three at Walmart yesterday.

Unfortunately, you're not allowed to hunt in the store. :D

Kinda like the emergency room gown turned

What's it cost to pull the trigger on that cannon? Seems like I saw ammo around $128 a box for it.

Into a open backed shirt.... As far as the ammo, don't think you'll need it.... the cholesterol will kill her soon enough....dye's her hair to match her bra....[cl
