I don't get how some people LOVE ethanol. When I was in the marine business we started see a huge increase in the number of fuel related problems when ethanol started being put in gas. It was eating up carb parts, plastic fuel tanks, and lines. Every week we were getting new letters from Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC, etc telling us how to deal with the problems and what we would be seeing.

Customers were furious with us because we would completely rebuild their carbs one month and the next month they were gummed up again. They didn't want to hear that this was now related to fuel, but wanted to blame us for screwing up.

If you put some of the new gasolines into a jar it will start to separate out very quickly into layers........this is called Phase Separation. Some companies sell products supposedly to slow down that problem, but who knows if it works.

And let's not even talk about worse fuel economy !

Yeah, I have a problem with ethanol in my rod, every time I use it the price of food goes up...

Not up for an increase to 15% either. Pretty much every engine I have says 10% is the max allowable.

South Dakota farmers do too. Here the gas stations list the prices with super unleaded first because it's .10 cheaper than regular because the super has ethanol and the regular is straight gas. But then again my DD is a diesel truck too.

Although we could start the low sulfur diesel vs. ultra low debate and be just about as stuck as the ethanol one, haha.

i grew up around houston texas in the 70's, and we had summer gas that had 10% then, most all big cities had it, and brimingham alabama has had summer gas sence the mid 80's. now everyone has it, i guess it is here to stay now. o-well i'll run the hell out of it. i have been told that high test has less but have never checked into it. just pour some heat in and give it hell. summer gas is suppost to make less pullants (spelling).

There are some oil companies that produce gas with no ethanol but it's hard to find. Found a website that lists gas stations that sell ethanol free gas but most of them are marinas or airports. None are within 30 miles of me.

OK, which has less ethanol, regular or premium gas  [S

Jim

In SoDak neither regular or premium have ethanol, the mid grade is the one that has ethanol in it.

When I lived in Tulsa there were 2 stations in the whole city that sold 100% ethanol free gas and they were VERY proud of it, it was on the news, they had banners all over the block around their station etc.

If in doubt just check your fuel mileage, if it drops around 3mpg's you're using ethanol [ddd
