No stranger to rust up here.

I've been browsing around for a bit and thought it was about time i introduce myself. My names Liam. I'm from NEPA, 21 and in college. So as you can guess, yes i am low on money.
I'll post pics up of the truck when i get enough posts.
The current project is a Ford N-1000
Its a heavy duty truck and am still unsure about what to do with it. If you have any ideas let me know.

Welcome Liam to the RRR
You have to have 25 posts only to sell something ;)
Please post pics of your ride, we love pics [dr [P

Welcome to RRR!

A N-series - what year? They look kinda cool, but yeah, gonna be kinda tricky. What kind of welding/fabrication skills ya got?

Just started a welding class at school. Going for automotive tech. This will be my second year.

Whoa, that thing is cool! Love the old cab overs [cl First of all, don't touch that paint! Now, drop that cab to the ground.....I mean so low there's no room left under it for an engine and drive train [ddd Now go get yourself a diesel of your choice cause that's the only thing that would be right for this truck since it already says diesel in the hood  Now remember there's no room for it up front so you'll have to mount it behind the cab. Then you take that cool "top knot" thing on the back of the cab and extend it a foot to kinda shelter the engine (at hi-way speeds anyway). Get yourself a beefy rear end, narrow it and mount up some triples......lots of duallies running around but when was the last time you saw triples with just enough room between them for a pair of leaf springs and a driveshaft [ddd And there you have it, awesome cool one of a kind Rat Rod [cl[cl
 Sorry I got carried away......but YOU asked :D

Welcome aboard Liam......I ain't got no money either but I'm not letting that stop me!

Later,
Ray

You could find an old international dt466 for parts and put in the engine and tranny even running an allison auto... and the international axles would have hydraulic disc brakes front and rear leaving you able to drive the thing without a cdl as long as you title it with a gvw of 28k # or less

if it's running air brakes or over 28k # you will need a commercial driver;s licence.
all commercial trucks use the same width fram. You could drop this cab on the international chassis or even find somethign with a set of rails long enough to build a stretched car hauler.

Hino's and Isuzu have pretty good mid sized diesels too

No problem! Sweet ideas you have going. I forgot to mention that the last time it was driven it had a 220 cummins installed. Or thats what he said. Its running air brakes at the moment but the hydraulic swap sounds like a great idea.

It currently has a 10 speed. I really need to tow it into the garage to examine it a little more. i'll be sure to post up tons of pics and maybe get a build thread going. I'll admit that i know nothing about heavy duty trucks. I used to do a lot of offroading so i know my axles, t-cases, and trans but nothing on this scale. So any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the ideas and help. Ill be on tomorrow. The girlfriends getting angry :D
