OK, here's some pics
Keep in mind, I like things different.
The Roadster I'm building is kind of a modern version of a '23 T. Low and wide, with a Euro flavor.
The first photo shows how I'm using the front cowl section of the existing body to build a plug. Then I'll make a mold of the extended cowl and windshield frame, lay that up, and attach the new section. The body was widened 8 1/2" to begin with. The '68 Bug Conv. windshield frame is chopped 4 1/2" and matches up with the widened body perfectly.
The other photos are of the back end. I wanted something other than a standard turtle deck. The final part will eventually have an opening deck lid. The tail lights are recessed Toyota Solara and the bottom bumper section is from a narrowed Honda S2000. At the very top, you'll notice a recess. It wraps around an LED third brake light that's in the back of the main body just under the lip. The plug has taken me 6 months to get to the point where I could start the mold. It's made from foam, MDF, plastic, plaster, and body filler.
The last 2 photos are of the molding process. The mold needed to be 6 sections because of the complex shape. I'll lay up the final part next month.
