I was going to make a smart remark about another choice, but Earthman beat me to it.

I like em both, but you have to decide which one you are passionate about.

My Wife put those same constraints on me too. I really don't miss her all that much any more.:D:D

I wanted to make up my mind on which car you should keep before I saw the others comments, so here is what I think. I agree you should get the one that really turns your crank. A car that I would want is not necessarily one you would want, and vice versa. You are probably going to have whatever choice you make for a long time, so it should be a car that you lay awake at night thinking about. It should be an obsession.

With that in mind, I think the Stude is somewhat cooler. Don't get me wrong, a dropped and chopped '50 Merc is right up there with a '32 Ford IMO, but they are a lot more common than the Stude you have. I love the grille and front end on that Stude. It also looks closer to being a running driving car.

But ultimately, it HAS to be what you want.

Huuuuum!?

Well... I do love them both but I'm sorta a 2 door man but a 4-door is better for family haulin' My kids are outta the house so my 4 door days r over! Either one will be a kool car though the Merc looks to need more work! Stude definitely more unusual!

It has to be whichever one you really can't live without. That said, both cars are cool tho the Stude is less common than the Merc.

well I have looked at it both ways money and by what I want I truely am obsessed with the mercs but I just dont think this is the right time for me to have one.... i guess im worried i may never come across another one. As for the stude It is almost one of its kind since I have never seen another in person but then again parts arent that plentiful either..... IM SO CONFUSED

They say, if you have a hard time making the call on something like this, you should flip a coin. Then while the coin is in the air you will find yourself wishing for either heads or tails.

39 /40 Studebaker parts are available (except for that darn nose piece of chrome...that you already have). There are only some minor differences between the two years...headlight bezels, rear quarter windows (yours swing out, my 40's slide back to open). Me being me.....I say keep the Studebaker. There are Mercs all over the place...even in fiberglass already chopped...but you don;t see the Studebakers everyday... but like several others have said...you gotta do what is right for you.

Here's a couple just for the heck of it

Like all have said you gotta go with what turns your crank. I personally like different, and the Stude is all of that.
I actually have the opposite problem my wife would have the place packed if she brought home all the cars she liked. There was a 50 Stude business coupe at the swap meet at the Goodguys last weekend. The poor guy is probably still cleaning all her saliva off the car. I had to pull out my drivers license and show her our name is not Gates or Leno.
Good luck on your choice, you gotta be happy.
