Does anyone have any examples of a hood used as aboat tail? I have been considering using my Binder hood as a boat tail.

Thanks for any ideas.

I've been eyeballing the 90's cars, the rear fenders have the shape that may work on a smaller single seater. I kept the whole side panels front to back from a 94 cadillac with a 4 seat speedster in mind. Slight bow top to bottom of the entire panel and a long gradual curve front to back. Now stored in the shop attic until?? Buick (early 90s) rear fenders and section of the trunk lid might work out as well for the back section.

I have seen a lot of late 30's early 40's as wheel as 47-54 Chevy pickup hoods used as a speedster rear. If done right they all look great. Just depends on the exact look that your going for.

I found an example on another computer I use (I'm real disorganised). The fenders look like they are from an old PU? Some early 50s 'special' I saw on ebay a while back--went for big $!!

Flippers idea of using a car top halved is promising too.

Thanks for the feedback--I'ts good to know I'm not the only guy squinting his eyes and rubbing his chin, walking around an old car and 'imagineing the possibilities'. :)

Lately bodies have been more fun than frames and suspensions and drivetrains--I go in spells about what I like to do..

'preciate it--if ya find anything post it? I've even thought about trimming on the fenders, and seeing what they look like left on.. I think this Ole Yaller car did something like that.

I've been looking at speedsters off and on for years and am a big fan of the Boattail Auburns and Deusenbergs, and I'm playing around with the idea of building something similar in rust. I've got a 30 Buick in the weeds that might be tha cowl/windshield/doors with a lot of cutting--find a suitable rear tail and hook it all together with a little baling wire and bubblegum--ya gots a Speedster!!..

Just something to think about on a dreery winters day...
