Ok... my truck's exhaust was throwing off heat into the cab so I started looking online for wrapping tape to put on my pipes. The best deal I found was right down the street at Advance. When I got there... the price was several $ higher than the price they had on their website. I asked the girl about it & she said if I ordered & paid for it online it was cheaper. I drove a couple blocks back home & ordered some other stuff too & saved over 12%. I'll be doing that from now on!!!

Thanks for the tip. Can you go to the store and pick up the parts after you pay online or do you have to wait for them to ship them to you?

And a bonus unsolicited opinion:D. I hate that modern scociety extorts citizens into going "online" for everything. People wouldn't be able to survive if all the computers suddenly went down.

Gastrick,
Either way! I actually took down the parts #'s when I was at the store, went home & ordered & drove right back up there & she pulled the stuff off the shelf & zipped on home! Probably could have ordered on my phone while I was in the store! Saved nearly $10! [ddd

when i saw the title, i thought someone had hacked tripper, i was waiting for the flash. good tip tripper.

It seems most companies offer store prices and on line prices and for some dumb reason most won't honor the on line price in the store. I bought a cat scratching post for our two cats a couple of years ago at Petco and paid $ 75 for it. Over time they have used it to the point it needs replaced, so I went on line and found Petco sells it for around $ 50 on line, but when I called the store they said they would not honor that price. :(

I ended up ordering one on Amazon.com for $ 47.09 with free shipping, so Petco lost out on a sale. Maybe it is just me, but I always felt that it was better to take a sale at a reduced profit than to see a customer walk out the door.

Don

I'd say they got their fun out of this one.:D It sure did save our furniture though.

also another tip, any veterans, police, ems, or firefighters, just casually ask when in any privately owned parts store if they give a (insert profession) discount, they normally will give a discount, i know i do at the shop i work at and receive discounts at other stores

Parts

Got a set of headers for the 66 today, went to Advance and they matched the online price. When i picked them up tonight the box was taped shut. So we opened it up to find a small dent in one of the tubes, no big deal to me but they said well how about $20.00 cash back for the dent? So all in all our Adavnce store here is good for matching prices online and some times even pay you cash. Headres, Mr. Gasket gaskets, and bolts $79.99 was the total after the $20.00 back

Be very careful if you are a government or municipality employee doing this. It falls under the same statue as Bribery or recieving gifts. It is against the law in most states. There are places here that will give me a free lunch if I am in uniform. I don't go to these places. Not that I wouldn't appreciate the offer but I don't want it brought up in court later when I have to arrest them or their family members for a crime. Or have my credibility brought into question. Once you lose your credibility in theis job you are all done.
