what is the best way to sub frame a 36 chevy sedan other than mustang2 front end

The MII is one of the best ways. Outside the high dollar independent front suspension kits (most are based on MII) the MII is the best choice; if it's independent suspension you want.

There are plenty of "successful" subframe installations out there, but once you cut the front of the frame off you had better be prepared for the work. That re-purposed clip won't have any of the mounting points for everything forward of the firewall. I've done several subframes in my life and I would never do another one. I would avoid doing anything that involves cutting significant portions of the frame off. JMHO

I have never done a subframe, but I've seen some that were never finished, possibly at least partly because of this very issue. I have often thought that if I were tackling a job like this, that after removing the front clip (sheet metal), I would bolt some plates to the firewall, then construct a welded framework that would accurately locate all of the necessary mounting positions. Then after the new frame is welded on, just remount this apparatus, and build up the frame where necessary. That way you wouldn't have the sheet metal blocking your view of what you are doing while trying to support it properly.

Subframe

They can be a lot of work....crossmembers in the wrong place, too wide, too narrow ......go with an engineered piece from Fatman Fabrications, make it easier on yourself, easier for you to resell with an engineered part up front. This is an important piece of your ride, do it right
