You heard me... I'm now an expert welder and I specialize... in ahhh...er... welding up burn through holes in old sheet metal. I'm actually an expert in makin' 'um & weldin' 'um back up!!!

I would post a picture but it would just look like a normal weld... that's how good I am now... but if u wanna see one of my famous burn though holes... I have plenty of those! Like I said... I'm an expert!!!

Yep... I think it must be in the water or air... or more likely... the brewsky!!!

If you chase those holes long enough, you end up with brand new cab metal.

Wow, last night was my first attempt at MIG welding sheetmetal to cover bullet holes in the doors as well as replacing the bottom rusted out area of the door. The small areas were OK but I did end up filling in lots of burn throughs. After I ground down the welds they looked OK. One of the tougher repairs was where the door was shot through the window channel. The bottom door area was a section about 2" x 18" and I ended up with big weld globs and lots of grinding. I planned on repairing some of the rust through on the interior of the door but I think I'll wait until I get better at welding thin stuff. Actually, I'll probably just leave it and consider it part of the character of the truck.

A thick piece of brass or copper,( copper is better) backing the area you want to fill may help you out.

I can't wait to burn through my first piece of sheetmetal!! After that, I might just burn through something tougher just to say I did! It won't be long now before I'll have lots of opportunities.
