Hey Flat,
Didn't know you were having surgery, must have missed that one. At any rate looks like all went well.

Do you have a little bell to ring when you need something?

The surgery was today and the Doc said he had cut it all the way into the joint, so they repaired the tendon and other things and sewed him up. He has a half cast from the tip of his first two fingers down to almost his elbow. They did say he will have to go to PT for a while. But everything went well this morning. I am just keeping this Vicodine they gave him in him for while to make sure he doesn't hurt.
Here's my post from yesterday, posted under "be careful guys..."

Ok y'all, here's one for ya.
Flat was at work today trying to cut a zip tie from around some wires with his lock blade knife (with a 1/2 smooth blade and 1/2 saw blade no less) and it slipped and cut his right index finger at the middle knuckle down to the bone! Of course it was the saw part of the blade that bit and slipped at an odd angle as it was cutting!
1st mistake he made was calling me on his way to the ER and saying...."Honey, what ever you do, do not worry and do not leave work, I am fine, but...." OK....wrong thing to say to your wife! He gets to the ER and shortly there after I get there too around 11am, they finally call him back for a Doc to check it out and guess what....they want us to go across town to have an Ortho Doc sew it up, we get there and that Doc says.....Well, you've cut the tendon, thats why you can't move your finger, you need to go to the hospital at 7 am to have surgery!....SURGERY! I will tell y'all right now....when he does something, he's gonna do it big time (if y'all haven't figured that out yet). So, we will be arriving at the Hospital between 6:30 & 7am and hopefully it will not be too long after that he will get his finger sewn back together. I hope there is not any other damage found once they get in there and look around.
Yes I have gross pics to show, they are not very good because his meds have kicked in and he was not standing under the light being still so they are blurry, couldn't get more cause it started bleeding and we had to get it bandaged back up. You can't tell in the pic but if he bends his finger, you can actually see the bone....YUK!
I will try to post an update when we get home from surgery, but will have to go to my daughter's volleyball tournament also, hopefully we will be home in plenty of time to rest before having to leave for that. But I will post an update as soon as I possibly can. Y'all be patient with him and his posts....may be alot of mistakes due to one finger not in use...LOL

I hope he didnt hurt too much, I didnt feel anything.:D

I cut a tendon once. had to ABSOLUTLY NOT MOVE IT AFTER SURGERY till the doc tells you to. Then do all the exercizes they perscribe and it will heal fine and you will have good use of it again.

I'll say a prayer.

Ouch. I missed your post in the other thread about Flat's mishap. Seeing your own bones is never a good thing . Hope he's better soon

No thats not good.

I didnt have insurance so the doctor having pity on my bleeding soul, asked me to wait to the end of the day and he would make me a good deal (cheap for cash) on the surgery.

After I waited for the waiting room to clear I was led in and set up for surgery. Then the assistant says he had to leave cause he had an appointment. Now it was just the doctor and me.

Every thing was fine for a while till the doc said "here, hold this and pull on it"

It was those little pliers that were clamped onto the end of my tendon!!!!
I was assisting in my own surgury!!

Everything worked out.

Hope Flat had a better time.

I have been there and done that. After my daughter was born.I am talking minutes. They were so busy in the deleivery area that the Doc put me to work on the wife.It was just like that.Hold this and dont drop that needle.Need I say anymore. It was deffinatly an interesting experience.Hope your doing well Flat.

Double ouch!!! Just reading it made me cringe. Wow, how fast stuff can happen.

Yep, let it heal and don't do anything to reinjure it. When I tore my bicep off of my arm bone I did exactly what they told me because I sure didn't want to go through surgery again. Now it's like it never happened, except I can't play the piano. Of course, I NEVER could play the piano. (ok, I'll be quiet now :D)

Hope you feel better Flat.

Don

Ouch for sure. Makes mine hurt just hearing about it.:eek:Man do what the wife an doc tell's ya.

Emergency room!

I used to go to the emergency room & sit & wait FOREVER but now several of the big hospitals here have put emergency centers in several strip centers & when I cut my ankle real bad I went to one, got 6 stiches & a tetnus shot & was out of there in less than an hour!!! I went right in after I filled the forms out & was attended to immediately... it was awesome!!!

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
I am doing fine and have an appointment withh the sergeon in 2 weeks. (then I get to see what damage the doc did) I'm not in a whole lotta pain which is good.
