spent the last couple days organising the shop and was getting pretty bored, and kept thinking about the suspension in the Imp. i just wasn't happy with it, too squishy, so went to the local parts house looking for a quick fix, i'd like to bag it one day, but in the meantime, ordered a set of Energy Suspension poly bushings and and two Moog heavy duty stock rear coils. they came in this afternoon, the coils were 1 inch shorter than the stock springs i took out and a bit larger diameter wire, i was a bit worried, the rear already sits lower than the front and i never liked the way it looked, the parts guy is a buddy and he said try em for a week, if ya don't like em we'll send em back. i'll put the bushings in later when i can take the time to sandblast and box the trailing arms, but a couple hours later......
the new springs raised the rear 2 inches, giving the car a slight rake, i really like it. and when i drove it, it's perfect, rides like a dream, no more squishy squishy, and is not harsh at all, just calmed down the back end a whole bunch.
just spent an hour driving all the twisty roads i could find, took corners at 60 mph that i used to take at 40

can't believe the difference $148 makes

Sounds like it stiffened up the stock, probably tired, suspension. Springs do obviously age, and the new ones sound better than what it was originally. Good deal. :):) The poly bushings should be even better when installed.

Well?

Imp,
Don't keep us in the dark, let's see some pictures. I love '59 Imp's and have always wanted a '59 Elky. Maybe someday one will cross my path.
