How's it going . I'm getting ready to have a glass cut to fit my chopped 50 f-1. I'm wondering what will hold it down when I put it in ? Is it just a cylacone ? Does it come in a calk tube ? Sorry for no pictures I don't have a computer (just an I pod ) and I can't figure how to up load pictures .

Not sure on a 50 Ford but most auto's either have a rubber seal that goes around the pinch weld and has a receiver groove for the glass. Or you can silicone it in place and hold it in with some kind of trim. You can probably find you tube videos to show you how.

windshield

want old man dave said. i learned the hard way, get a new gasket, old ones are way to stiff.
good luck and be gentle.

If you're that unsure how you want to install the glass, I would
recommend taking it somewhere and letting them, cut, and install it!!
You will be happier in the long run, and it may even be cheaper
in the long run!!

I agree with rainman!
I took the glass out of an old bug when I was younger to tint the windows.
It was fun putting it back in!
With the rubber with receiver groove, I install the rubber on the pinch weld all the way around, then (!!!!with the help of someone else!!!!) pa string I to the groove. Place the glass in the bottom groove, then wet the rubber down with soapy water. Have someone press from the outside, on the glass, as you press, pull the saturated wet string out slowly! This will pull the rubber back and let the glad slide in place. This takes time and patients! I did it by myself and it took 4 tries and the last try you wanna throw the glass across the yard.
With a custom cut windshield,I'm not sure I would risk it doing it yourself. There are company's out there that work with glass all the time and can do it for you.

Good luck.
