My God !!!!!! Ya know, we all have our little stashes and collections, but there is just no sense to owning all that stuff. There must be millions and millions of dollars in there, and the sad part is all those cars and parts were kept out of the hands of people who would have fixed them up and enjoyed them. Instead, they sat in a building, collecting dust, with nothing being done to them for all those years.

It has to be a hoarding compulsion, like you see on those TV shows.

I only had time this morning to watch the first one, can't get over the feeling I know that name!!! Lee Hartung sounds very familiar, but I can't place why??? I may have missed it but did it say where that was?
I would say there's possibly millions in just bicycles in there!! When I get time later I'm going to try and count the Fords, looks like way more than 50 in the first vid!!!

I also agree, DON"T UNDERSTAND IT!!!!![S[S[S

Probably would do it too, if I could though!!!!:rolleyes:

If you wasn`t paying attention that face in the car in the first vid could scare the bejesus outta somebody, especially at night. Almost looks like a Micheal Myer`s mask.

Yeah, that face gave me a chill, too!

Apparently this place was a museum. Hartung's License PLate and Auto Museum. Not your average tourist attraction!

Lee Hartung has passed, and the entire collection is going to auction.

Check it out if you're in the area.

Anyone have any idea what this is?

I wouldn't call this guy a hoarder, I would call him a collector. Hoarders let stuff lay and ruin for the most part, but this guy displayed his collection and let others come and enjoy it. He has been a faithful protector of these vehicles for decades and probably saved many of them that would have otherwise been turned into billet-clad Easter egg cars. I wish there had been more guys like him.

i know a couple of guys that got in there a few months back.. it wasnt really a museum all though the old guy called it that..

heres a cool shot.. tells you all the cars that are in there... there are a few really cool ones.. like the original city of Chicago paddy wagon....and the aluminum model T..

I was hoping to get in there before the auction but that doesnt look like thats going to happen... the cats outa the bag!

i had to sto[ watching at 43 secs,, made me sick!! i guess there a good side and a bad side to hoarding!! it perseves some stuff, but waste much more!

I'm not so sure I would classify this guy as a hoarder. More along the lines of a collector or steward. And now it's being made available to the public at the going rate at auction. You couldn't have bought it at the time that he did, and incur the storage fees for what it will go for at auction now. In a sense, he has stored it and kept it out of the weather for the next person to restore...for free. But with so much there, people are going to lose interest hanging around for something they want, and there will be some bargains for sure. If they (the sellers) were going for every last buck, it should be done in categories, or types of items per sale, and not all at once for the reasons mentioned. No matter how it's done, there should be a lot of happy people in the near future.
