I was SO glad I found this site..I met a LOT of cool people here..I hope all of your builds turn out as cool as your dreams of them.I am calling it quits on the build...I guess no one in Michigan has the same dream as me about building. I contacted over 20 people so far in the last 7 or 8 days and only heard back from a few.Contacted several cab clubs and never heard nothing back from any of them....Guess I wasnt cool enough..:D
Posted on every board I could find looking for help and never really found the help I needed.I KNEW I lived in the wrong state..:mad:I wish I was a book person and read something and follow it BUT I am not..I am a hands on person...I learn by having someone there to help me.
Take you all....

Just do it, dont worry about not having anyone around. Just teach yourself and do the best you can. Buy some tools and just do it, or take it to a shop and pay money for the work.

Dave,

Don't give up now. Go to car shows and meet people ask questions eventually you're going to find someone that will be willing to help you out. There is really only one way to learn and that's just jump in there and start. If you need tools and shop equipment just start collecting a piece at a time. Get yourself a welder and start practicing. And you will have to find some books and read and them and then apply what you've read. It all takes time just be patient .

And always have the guy here at RRR to help out. Hang in there Dave!

man! do you have any children? if not, have you ever told any kids not to give up so easily? its the same phylosophy (spelling?). i have been on here for a while now and if i cannot find anything about anything on this site then there is something wrong! you may not be able to find anyone real close to you but the puter is sitting on the desk/table ready and willing to get you the answers you are looking for. for example, i am getting ready to post a thread about some motor help because i just dont have the knowledge to do it myself and if things dont come through for me on that, then i will try something else. if you give up on doing something like this with the passion you have for it right now, then you are surely going to regret it in the long run. and to be honest you cant get much easier then to have an old rusted up heap that runs good with hardly next to nothing in it and getting all the looks from the haters and the lovers.... but still loving it because they ARE looking at your ride!

whenever i get discouraged... i go take a healthy one and everything is A-O-K! well, too much info there, but you get the drift! ahahahah.

Whoa!!!

Dude... don't give up so easy. This is not rocket science... otherwise we'd all b drivin' real cars!!! Don't give up, just do it... u'll b glad u did!!! :D:D:D

Coffinmaker, you already know my feelings. I just spent a hour trying to convince you man! Please listen to whats been said. Everybody here is shootin' straight with you. YOU CAN DO THIS! If I can come from where I have and still hang on strong, you sure as heck can too. I wish you all the best whatever you decide but I sincerely hope you take all thats been said to heart and stay with us.

Ha! You are a character CM and not even all that old yet :D Would have thought you woulda learned to go with the flow by now tho. :D Know where you are coming from about the friends but once you get a project sitting in your driveway it will be a magnet.

Things just got out of hand

It goes without saying...things just got crazy here. You see I own and operate a custom made Halloween prop business...(Besides working close to 60 hours a week at a somewhat normal job..)I should say DID.Things get REALLY stupid this time of year and I build all year round..!! With everything building up...People wanting this prop NOW...That prop yesterday...can you make me several thousand tombstones by next week?Oh yeah..they all have to look different..!! Everyone waits until the LAST second.AND once you spend all you waking hours putting it together, they dont need it..OR they found a better deal...YOUR always out trying to push your product.PEOPLE LOVE what you do ..but want it cheaper then Walmart has it..BUT Walmart doesnt carry what I make..!!
Busy trying to keep track of 4 ads running on EBAY TOO with people trying to make deals on stuff your GIVING away anyway.
I am trying to sell me storage trailers, trying to empty out a 20x20 U-haul storage unit, trying get an ex girlfriend MOVED out of my life and my house AND trying to finish ONE last prop for a customer..a Horse Drawn Hearse..it kinda piled up on me.I see how fast some of you guys build and think.." HELL,that will take me 2 years to figure it out.."
I kinda freaked I guess..BUT with every ones support so far I have relaxed and focused on what I WANT..!!!! I stopped taking all orders and will dump about 90% of what I have made and what I have in storage over the next few weeks.I will be closing my shop for good REAL soon so I can concentrate on my build. You guys should see the looks I get from the new neighborhood
I moved it...CLASSIC...Tombstones all over the back yard...Full size skeletons sitting at the picnic table...it is funny. Thanslk to all you helped me see things straight....I MEAN IT

H***, there isn't a rodder on this forum who hasn't wondered from time to time if we maybe didn't pick the wrong hobby! :D When I am at the shop, sweating on a 95 degree/ 100 percent humidity day, lifting a 400 pound frame, getting cut and burned, and spending money that I should be using to cover my old age........I sometimes think I am crazy and should start fishing again. But the bottom line is, you are either a hot rodder or you are not. If you are really bitten by the bug, like most of us are, you can't stop thinking about that next bracket you are going to make, or the next car you will find.

CoffinMaker, these guys are right, i got a 46 International last Labor Day been working on it at least 2 nights a week and most saturdays, and i can tell you that last saturday i drove it thru my parking lot for the first time and the feeling of my 2 minute ride(before it started to overheat) was worth every minute i have spent over the last year, would i do it all over again? HELL YES in a heart beat , dont stop, keep dreaming, and before you know it you will be driving your too...............good luck
