Some people just don't make sense.

The new house the Mrs and I bought out back had the remnants of a very nice paver sidewalk. Decided to see just how much of it was still there.

This is what I started with.

Did a little digging.......

Then went walking around the back yard and found some landscape bricks (plus the ones that I had brought from my old place) and this is what I ended up with......

I need to do a little leveling work, but for the most part, I was shocked. Why would anyone spend all the time money and effort to put something like that in and then let it go to hell???

Back in my thirties I could plan my days out in the yard and get it done. Now it all depends on how I wake up in the morning. And Im only 52 ! From what my Doc says in so many words " The warranty is up on a few of my worn parts".Out in New Mex theres not allota grass and pretty flowers. Mostly cactus, weeds , and goatheads.

From talking to the neighbors the people that lived there before me were in their late 40 to early 50s with 4 boys...... So even if mom and dad broke their give-a-dammers they coulda had the boys do it...... Just seems like a waste of time money and effort to me to do something like that.

Looks good. People do funny stuff to their homes, they may have gotten sick or just been lazy

When you get an illness or injury that lasts any length of time it's easy to let things go. I've been down for most of the year and just now starting to feel better. Looking around my property at what I haven't kept up with in the last 10 months it gets discouraging to even think about getting caught up. At a cross roads with some of it, either plug away at when I can or just let it go till next year and hope I can still find it in the spring time. [S

Give a damn. Among the reasons already stated, renters, debt, bankruptcy, addiction and/or divorce... cut and run!

Or they're plain lazy and the 4 boys learned by shining example. :(

I give a damn but my body won't let me do what my brain says needs to be done
Spinal arthritis sucks!
When my body was fine my brain didn't give a damn
Go figure...

Never Know why people do what they do...

Could be a myriad of things but ultimately, you've got the makings of a very nice walkway.....I'd say pull them all, do it right and you'll have a walkway that will last for years with minimal outlay of cash..... looks like you've gotten a pretty good deal on new digs..... :D

It is just shocking to me how people can not care so much. Judging by how the rest of the outside was kept up that is what I am saying the problem was. It wasn't the body wasn't willing it is the mind said F*** IT!

So far I think the place is starting to shape up pretty well. Once I get some of the large pile of small stuff I need to do I will move on to some of the fun stuff. Hopefully one day I will be able to get back on my projects especially now that they are all under one roof.
