In the past when someone has asked a question about how to start a car club my reply has been to not do it...........the infighting, hassles, dealing with lots of different personalities, etc. I was President of a local club for a while and it plain wore me out. However, I have just witnessed the good side of a club and it was heartwarming to see.

As all of you know, Myron Boloyan Jr was killed last week in by a red light runner. He was laid to rest yesterday and the turnout by his fellow Poorboys was amazing. Evidently this is one club that is the exception to the rule. They seem to be an extremely tightknit group who look out for one another. You can tell from the comments they have posted that this tragedy has affected all of them, regardless of what chapter they are from. Hats off to them. :):):) I can't wait until I get to meet some of them at Billetproof so I can shake their hands.

Here are some pictures I borrowed from the HAMB that were posted of Myrons funeral. Rest in Peace Myron. I hope his family is doing as well as possible under circumstances that I can only imagine must be very tough on them.

Don,
Judging from the pics, It would appear to me that wearing a "Poor Boys" club shirt would be a "Badge of Honor".

Hats off to those fine Ladies and Gentlemen who turned out yesterday for his final ride.

That looks like a club that I would be proud to be a part of.

Seems like you don't see much of that anymore, really ashame. It would indeed be privilege to know any one of them.

I too hope the family is coping, these things are never easy.

In general, I think that hot rod guys are a tight fraternity. We have informal gatherings around here, such as the Donut Derelicts and the Caffine Cruisers. When a member passes on, there is a hugh gathering of hot rods. These aren't clubs, but guys that gather for conversation and coffee.

They are definately a tight knit group. Very cool and down to earth. I have met some of the members at the pile up and james dean run and ducktail run. Im proud of the commratary as a club and family. God bless their loss and keep building the rods.

I met a couple of their club members that are also members here at the Turkey Rod Run this year. RoostersRatRods (Dave) and AHotrod (Glenn). Real good people.

That's a nice thing to witness after such a tragedy.
I'd wondered about what would be "appropriate" in such circumstances at a funeral. I think it's very cool they all drove their cars and showed up in their club "colors". I think it's a very fitting tribute to a lost friend. I know I'd be honored if the guys in my club acted in a simillar way. I know that's how I'd want it if I passed...

My sypathies and thoughts to the familly.

Jay

Well, thanks fellas! We are a pretty tight group. One reason is that most of us were already good friends long before the Poor Boys deal was offered (through Myron Jr's connections to the Detroit Chapter).
The family asked us to wear the colors for the funeral and Myron Jr. was buried in his club shirt. This has been a long, sad week and now we all need to get back to our projects and lives but Myron will always be around us no matter what we're doing.
Thanks for the compliments. We'll be happy to see all of you at Billetproof. Mike

Mike, something I'm sure more people than me are wondering, what is the situation with the girl that hit Myron? Was she hurt, have any charges been brought, etc. I just can't imagine someone doing something of this magnatude and getting off scott free.

Also, did she run a red light and hit him broadside or from behind? There were two different accounts. Forgive me for asking but I think all of us want some justice for what happened.

well don as far as we know what happen is..myron jr was hit from behind on the right rear while taking off from a traffic light..the women that hit him was traveling at 60-65 from what we are told.he was ejected from the speedster and suffered severe head trauma...now that myron jr has passed the florida highway patrol traffic homicide investorgator will take over...we herd she was on a cell phone:mad:.....this has been a very hard week for me ..he was a very special friend to me...he was a true metal craftsman, and a great friend..i am going to miss him......

i want to thank all of you that help support us through these hard times...myron jr spirt will live on in the poor boys cc we will not forget him...may he rest in peace.....dave

Thanks Dave. That's pretty much what I heard too. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what the legal system wants to do.
Myron was a true friend to everybody. Always the handshake and hug. I'm glad to have known him, even though it was only for a year. He had a deep impact on all of us. He was a talented guy too. His memory will be around a long time. Mike

Thanks for that info guys. Not to be vengeful, but I hope the law comes down on her really hard. An example needs to be made here............people have to realize they are guiding a 4000 pound loaded gun that can destroy peoples lives in a heartbeat. Every day all of us see idiotic driving and the law only seems to catch 1 percent of them if that much. The penalties have got to be stiffened to get people's attention.

Again, we wish all of those close to Myron well.

Don
