The devastation there is tragic. Those photos are heart wrenching. Fortunately for the strict building code there, there weren't more lose of life and property.

I have a personal connection since my mother is Japanese and all my relatives on my mothers side still live in Japan. I just spoke with her and all Aunts, Uncles and Cousins are accounted for.

You know.....

with all this crazy stuff happening you almost start to buy into the Nostra Damus theory...... kind of scary.....:(

Tough world to raise a kid in.....

I'm not an alarmist but man.... I can't believe all the terrible things going on around the world...... I can't imagine starting a new family and trying to deal with some of these world and economic issues..... tough road to travel for the youngsters.... maybe I just block out some of the crap that went on when I was a kid..... just doesn't seem like it was this bad ever.....

What's going on in Japan is pretty devastating. I can't imagine how tough it must be to be in that situation. I just hope the situation with their nuclear reactor doesn't worsen.

Japanese will recover from this in no time. They endured the devastating blow of 2 atomic bombs exploding over their country and within a few decades, they became one of the world's major powers. This is nothing compared to that.

Those pictures are so surreal, they almost look like toys just staged for pictures. We all scoff at all the "end of world" alarmists, but I can't ever remember a time when so much was happening Mother Nature wise. It's downright scarey.

Makes you stop and think don't it. News late night said that the "sea returned a thousand bodies to the shore over night". Hard to fathom. Some victims will vanish, never be found, that will be the most difficult aspect for a lot of the survivors. Love your family like it's your last day...because you just don't know.

wasn't gonna say anything, then I figured, I will say thax on some rat fotos, so i can say thanx for posting to you E-man. don't really think the world is any worse than before, but our ability to relay news and pictures is much different."yesterday is history, tomorrow the future, and today is a gift, that's why they call it the present"

Agreed Got Rust, the media brings it to us much more than in the past. Some aspects of natural disastors have ecalated in recent time however. In the past an earthquake and tidal wave would not have caused a nuclear powerplant to explode/meltdown blowing radiation around the world.:( The nations economys weren't so interdependent that a local disaster could cause hardship around the world.:(

I just heard about a Navy sub leaving the port in Japan 3 hours before the quake and staying submerged until it was over. So if HAARP was used what would be the purpose. All i can think of is the nuclear powerplants were the actual targets.

It's a hard lesson for all of us that the most earthquake prepared country in the world is no match what the earth can dish out. As the nuclear crisis unfolds, you can't help but think about how the prevailing winds will bring the fallout across the Pacific...
In British Columbia, it has heightened the awareness that we are overdue for the big one since the same tectonic plate conditions exist just off the coast of Vancouver Island. It hasn't moved much in hundreds of years unlike in California where it is constantly on the move. When it happens, the results will be similar (except for the nuke plants).
Seeing what has happened in Japan kinda makes day to day problems in our lives seem so trivial......
