Just a reminder that Shines new show is on at 10pm tonight on the learning channel. Should be some cool car stuff, as Jimmy builds traditional hot rods.

Hope they keep the drama down and keep it car oriented.

Don

Watching as we speak. At least there are hotrods in the picture, I am afraid it may turn into a soap. But the hot rods are still there.

It is still on TV and I almost got up off the couch when Jimmy said the 5 window had a 30,000 paint job. Soo far it has been OK but I think Bonehead hit the nail on the head, It definately has the potiential to be a "Soap Opera". I'm still on the fence about this one....

Geesh, just what I feared.........the Producers are running the show, and putting two females on the team who have never worked on a car before cinches it for me. The coupe is nice, and I like seeing some of the tools and all, but the premise is stupid.

The only guy who is even close to being knowledgable is Littleman, (Dave) who showed up late. He has a few neat cars, and is a machinist by trade, so he should be decent.

I wonder how many episodes before they cancel it??

I watched it but my opinion mirrors Don's. I'll watch it though because my son wants to see the cars and such and likes me to watch things like that with him. Looks like I'll have to endure the bogus drama and broken fingernails  for a while in the interest of some father/son bonding.

Flat, you mean to tell me you didn't intend to drop 30 grand on the Dark Sarcasm" paint job.:D

I guess I don't really understand the TV business.......maybe a show has to have that kind of silliness in it to appeal to a broad audience.

I would have loved to sit in on the initial meetings where the Producers sold Pete on the concept, and then he had to convince Jimmy that it would be good for the shop, "after all, it made the Tuettels (sp) a zillion bucks with American Chopper !!" I could almost feel the pain Jimmy was going through when that girl said she didn't like to run power tools !!!!!! WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!:eek: Honey, it is pretty hard to build a car without power tools.

Some Producer got involved and said it would be a good mix to have two girls on there who knew nothing about cars, so regular people could relate, or something to that effect. The only hope for the show is Dave and the ex con gangbanger. Everyone else is a joke.

Reminds me of selling one's soul to the Devil. I'll watch one more week to see if it improves and to see the cars, but I think that is about the extent of my attention span.

Gastrick,
Yeah man, I had every intention in the world to put 30 thou in a paint, Till Reason4 told me we had to eat and have a plact to live.....

I will watch the show next week just to see if anything gets going. Not gonna say I love it or hate, still on the fence about it...

I watched the opening and bailed after the first break. I got better thing to do then watch that drama. It's the same reason I quit watching American Chopper and American Hot Rod.

I just got through lurking on another site and heard someone refer to HIM as "Floyd Cotterpin".... I bout fell outta my chair LMAO...

I also watched it.I like that there is something different on now.Since I have been following the boyd and foose shows for a while.Thge finger nail chick is already gone. She quit after a week.Must be a fingernail problem.

In my opinion, it was a soap-opera from the get-go. There are plenty of skilled rod and kustom builders without all the emotional baggage they could have brought in. Starting with "damaged" people is just looking for ratings.

I have no problems with the girls on the show. Again though, there are probably 20 other female builders who are not afraid of a band-saw, or can actually weld.

I know Jimmy Shine can build some cool stuff, and he can definitely go fast on the salt, but it seems to me that he just wants to be the next Jesse James.

Sorry to sound so bitter, but I just wanted to see a show that might teach me something about building rods or fabrication. Instead I had to watch 5 minutes of Pete explaining to a chick why fingernails are dangerous.

Rant off. Hodag
