Very sorry to hear that, he was a super classy guy and from all accounts a nice man too. :(

Sure makes me feel old, I remember as a kid watching American Bandstand on TV and thinking how cool the older kids on there were (especially the girls). I used to go to my Sisters place every Summer, she lived in West Philly and we would drive past the studio where AB was televised from. All the cool kids were lined up outside waiting to get in.

RIP to an American Legend. :(

This is the first I've heard of it.....poor guy had a tough few years lately....I remember american bandstand too....RIP Dick....we'll miss ya

Bandstand.
I remember how the kids dressed sharp and looked like they had some personal dignity and self respect.
Women weren't referred to as *******.

Yeah, remember the "rate the record" bit...

"it's got a cool sound but hard to dance to it"...lol Man, it seemed like DC was gonna live forever......RIP

I too enjoyed American Bandstand and Dick Clark. Seemed to be a genuinely nice guy.

Robin Gibb from the BeeGee's is gravely ill and probably won't live more than a few days. Loved their music before the Disco days.

Just an observation, but I think this dying stuff is going to be kind of hard to avoid for most of us.

The people that seem to garner the most attention at their passing, are the ones that managed to pack a lot of living into their lifetime. I think Dick Clark would be one of these people, truly liked by others, because he truly liked his job and the people of all ages he was in contact with. Sobering news he's gone.

Amen. Dick tried to keep AB clean and family oriented and insisted the kids adhere to certain rules of behavior. I remember that he would not play Lloyd Prices song Stagger Lee until Lloyd revised the record to take out the part about Stagger lee shooting Billy. Those were certainly different times than today.

Another great entertainer died today. Levon Helm of The Band passed away from throat cancer. He was their drummer and singer. This is one of my favorite songs that they did, I remember listening to it a lot of times in the late 60's. RIP, Levon. :(

Last night I punched in "The Band Last Waltz" in Youtube. Listened to and watched several great numbers.

I love the Last Waltz & just saw it on cable about 6 months ago. Seen it many times & it *never* gets old, at least for me!

Ck the trailer for the Martin Scorsese film starring The Band, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters,Van Morrison, Dr John, Ronnie Hawkins, Ron Wood, Ringo Starr, Neil Diamond, Joni Mitchell, The Staples, Emmylou Harris & Paul Butterfield!

Besides all these cats... they interview the band about their incredible run!
