.....another project.....But hey, it's a Studebaker, so it has to be ok...Right? 1964 Daytona 4 door, 289 V8, automatic. Got 8 good wheels and tires (The ones on it are really dry rotted), and I have to go back for the extra doors, fenders, hood and trunk lid.

This is where it was sitting for the last 5 years...

It took a little hammering on the wheels to get the brakes to break free so it would roll up on the trailer, but we got it. Still not sure what the plans are, but the motor's not locked up. IF nothing else I got lots of good parts for one of the other Studebaker rods

Believe it or not, I spent 15 minutes with this thing and got it fired up. It wouldn't stay running without the jumper cables, so I threw a new voltage regulator and a "seconds" battery at it and it starts up and stays running like it should (even without the battery hooked up). Of course I had to see if I could run it around the lot a little, which it did without to much aggravation. The left front brake is still hanging up, so I'll have to look into that, but otherwise.....IT'S ALIVE!!!!

Car from Craigslist.....$300
New voltage regulator...$28
New Battery "second" from Interstate....$30

$358 for a parts car that looks like I'll drive for at least a little while before I part it out.

Yeah I know I'll have to throw a few more bucks at it for a new alternator belt and upper and lower radiator hoses, and some misc. odds and ends (and probably $20 at the car wash to get rid of all of the years of dirt and grime), but I know that I have a decent motor and trans and some other parts that I wanted for a future project (probably my 47 Studebaker pick up since I didn't sell it).

I'll post a few more pics arfter I get it cleaned up a little

Check and make sure that it is not the only brake that works. Dad bought a chevy II that drove him nuts with a wheel that locked up when he touched the brakes....turns out the other 3 wheel cylinders were frozen up

awesome find!!!! i was waiting for the "priceless" line at the end of your cost tally....you know car $300, regulator $28, battery $30...driving around the yard in a $358 1964 studebaker while making all the neighbors stare....priceless!:D:cool:

Thank you for finishing that up for me....I didn't even consider that. I really don;t think any one stared...probably more like shook their head in disbelief...but either way...priceless
