Im Dustin, and im a gear head. Im a junior in high school and Im already close to getting me AWS certification. Most of my weekends Im with my girl or under my truck. I take any classes I can, job shadowing, ect. Im in advanced auto mechanics II and am doing my 4x4 conversion. This summer I have a new project. I love trucks, and cars. Mostly a Ford fan, but I do admit I like Chevys too, not as much though. Im 17 years old and I already own 4 trucks, bought them all myself. I have many projects. As of right now im putting 4wd in my 1995 F-150. And most importantly....

Im building a rat rod. I thought a website like this would be perfict so I could talk to some seasoned builders.

I want to call my project the "Chev-Ord 390 Custom". I recently bought a 1937 chevy 3/4 ton, excellent shape and I want to build a rod. For the power plant I have a 1974 ford 390ci with a C6 tranny, 9in rear end. I want to port and polish the heads, throw on a tunnel ram with dual holly 4 barrels and build a monster. I want to chop the cab, slam her to the ground. Put the front axel way out infront of my chariot of rust, for the rear I might use a chopped studabaker box, with 12inX47in super swampers. Suicid doors, the possibilities are endless

Sadly i can start because my chevys frame is incased in permafrost...

But hey message me and we can talk shop. I know a few things for a highschooler

I am proud of you. Seldom do we see a young man with a love of cars, and the gift of gab. I like the swamper idea. Really different. I have always liked 390s too.
Welcome to the site. And get on those pictures.

thanks guys! I have some pic's here you can look at. The Chevy is a 37' 3/4ton flatbed.

there only cell phone picks so they arnt the best.

I have 2 pics of the 37', one pick of my daily driver, 95 F-150, and the 390 engine. Enjoy.

BTW I got the power train and the chevy for $650 and a pair of ski's :D

Welcome to RRR, FordMantMT. Always great to have the younger generation involved with old tin. Sounds like you got a plan for your 37.

I really wanted to build a model T hot rod.... But i found that Chevy and couldnt pass up a deal. The guy had alot of people ask about it, but the owner went to highschool with my dad so i scorred it.

He also has a 1928 ford pickup...and I have an extra 302 laying around...

Might be a topic for another day though :)

welcome to the site! When ya get started w/ the 390 let me know, i've got a head full of mostly useless ford bigblock trivia (such as which heads are the best, crank casting #'s and such) and would love to share it.......:p
and i guess you and Bonehead are the only guys i know that put Ford motors in Chevy's---most are, of course, the other way around...;)

Wecome FordMan !! Good thing you are young, you still have time to outgrow that Ford thing !!! Ha Ha As long as your turnig bolts on something , thats cool. I have a 10 year old that already has his own roll around tool box. So I can only imagine how bad he's going to be around you age ! But he is a Chevy Man all the way! The only Ford he says he wants is a 67 Shelby GT 500, I guess dream big , right !! Good to have you dude.:)
