Alright I know we have some computer geeks on here....
downloaded some picture's the other day....clicked on
(save as) just like I always do, after about a hundred pic's
I checked my picture files and the little mozilla foxfire icon
shows, click on it to open the pic...but from there it will not
let me transfer to photobucket????? Any idea's or did I waste
my time downloding them, I know I should have clicked show in
folder on the first one, but that's hind sight at this point.

thanks in advance for any help

When you clicked the Save As did you choose jpeg Image?
There should be a more or less picture lookin icon and not a Firefox icon

I had a similar problem the other day too. Some sites have software(I believe) to keep people from reposting their pix. You can open them and see them, but some won't transfer to a file. I used to get around that by copying and sending it to myself on email then saving them from there. It worked most of the time. The other day I snagged some cool old ads but transferred them to my files ok and I can view them there, but then when trying to upload them to PB, it tells me it can't upload because the files are empty????? I haven't figured out a way around that yet.
I'm posting a link to the site that will let you guys see them and maybe you can get them to rollover to here some way...

I've had this a time or two.

As smallfoot said, some sites won't let you save or copy the image. (I had no problem with the link posted, however.)

As Old Iron said, the image file is not saved, but an icon that links to the source. In that case, the "save as type" is limited to "webpage", no option, no "JPEG image".

Thanks guy's...I was afraid of this, went back and checked
again and when it asks me if I want to save....it is save as
html document so as I understand this means it's only the link to?
if any of this makes since......

thanks again guy's:(:( I'm still learning this stuff[S

I think it's a firefox quirk. I've had it happen a few times myself, even two pics on the same site, one would save, the other wouldn't. I've even saved pics before, looked at them a few times, then one day go back and all that would be there is the firefox icon. [S

Computers are evil! Just when you think you have them figured out, they change!

You got that right Bam....back in the late 60's my dad tried to get
me to take anything in school that had to do with computers, said
they would rule the future........:(:(:( should have listened.....

I think (as some have already suggested) it has to do with how the original site put the pictures up. Sometimes you can click in various areas of a photograph until it finally offers save as JPG, or something similar. Other times you can right click it and then choose Inspect, and find a line of text in the program file that gives the actual location of the picture. Other times I've tried every method I know, and they have the picture protected somehow, and there may be no way to copy it at all, except as a link. But that only works as long as they leave it up. There was a really amazing thread on a car site in Australia, the poster's name was Turns, I think, and he did some amazing work. The whole site is gone now, and I sure wish I had copied some of his build thread.

Try this on one of the known, not to work images and see if you can get a "Save As' jpeg choice.
Right click on the image, left click on "View Image Info"
In the media box click on the line with the word "Image" under "Type" then click on "Save As" and see if you have a jpeg choice from there.

Thanks Old.....but I still only get html foxfire document
with a choice of all files......I've pretty much given up on the idea
it will work:mad: and just pay closer attention when downloading
from now on, making sure it shows the actual picture in the folder....

thanks again guy's
