Why are they calving this time of year? Is that normal in Tejas? Most ranches up here calve around April.

Depends on the cycle they're on. Last year's batch were born in March-April, sold at 500+lbs 6 months later, & moms were re-bred in Sept-Oct. Here we are 9 months later. They'll get re-bred Dec-Jan & domino Sept-Oct... etc.
