Who are we talkin' 'bout here? [S

Torchmann (resident lunatic and philosopher) changed his handle to "Torch" some time ago. He hasn't appeared since March.

I suspect he's been duly infirmed... as Toad reasonably concludes. :D (Positively no offense, I like Torchmann and/or Torch.)

.

I love the guy.....but....

T-man as i affectionately call him....is probably off his meds and is hauling A$$ down some highway with a stolen rig and hot cargo.....JMHO...:D or not..

I found a 34 chevy 2 door sedan with no trunk hump for 1500 and a complete 4 door for 800 but I can't buy them.
I found a 73 malibu.. I can buy that
Found a 74 gto for 2g sand engine/tranny
Going to call a guy on a diesel 4x4 for $800 see if i can pick up a good diesel and tranny for my 77 4x4 project
scouting for a cheap low mileage 4.6 ford 2 valve romeo year 2000 (pi heads) or newer something 80k miles or less, mine has 190k slappy chains and pretty oil.
Found a 2005 listed as totalled for parts with a good 4.6...must call on that
found a 61 f100 unibody I'd love to build
could call on this 292 chevy for $150 bucks just to stash it away

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Torch.
Torch who?
The habit of knocking on someone's door comes from an ancient Persian custom. During wars against..... etc. etc. .... etc. etc. .... The Canadian government doesn't allow for a deviation from.... etc. etc. .... common law, although our Constitution does.... etc. etc.

Hi guys...
I was lurking past you Sam just the other night

The staffing agency I'm working for has me filling in for CT Jewell. It's a distribution company that bought a bunch of the Bucky's stores. I've been trucking Omaha to Chicago and emptying out a 53 foot semi with an electric pallet jack and a dolly into all the bucky's stations
for the next 2 weeks if you see a bucky;s truck on the west side of Chicago around Aurora Itasca Naperville Plainfield Oswego etc It's prolly me.
The usual guy stepped off a curb wrong and broke his foot
I was worrying what it was going to be like in the winter as hard as it is now but they just told me the normal guy should be back at it in a couple weeks then I'm off doing something else.
I'm working for Trillium who has offices all over the country so maybe I might do some carpetbagging if things slow here.
I need pay up my back dues at the hall and put in another round of applications with the construction companies.

I was thinking of you guys the past couple days as I've been on Craigslist looking for parts and stumbling on deals.
There is a farmer with this
http://omaha.craigslist.org/cto/3929686163.html
and I want it....
to channel it and do chop similar in profile to Jesse James’s chevy
This caddy doesn't need sectioned

want want want
still waiting for him to call me back

I was thinking of putting an old school 292 straight six into that olds regency diesel I have
or I could stick to the plan and rebuild this 30k mile diesel parts engine I found with only a broken head bolt...and do it stock. part of me says the diesel will make it harder to sell but another part of me says 100% original makes it worth more because of the rarity

Although it's a grandpa's land Yacht It's got that cool black on black vibe...perfect interior...perfect dash...all black (except for the funky gold and black navaho patterns in the seats)

I have a cluster**** going on here.
I havn't cleaned in so long it's looking like the fight club house
I've got used cedar wood piled up all over in the driveway and I'm still messing with this commercial wood planer to get it workign right so I can plane thess 2x's all down to 5/4" thick.
I'm using them along with some 6x6 beams to plank out a post and beam cathedral roof over the back addition on the house after which I'll stain and varnish the underside put my office back in there and call it my cowboy room.

I'm going to sneak a lean-to style "cold weather front" onto the front if the garage to give me some xtra inside space. have to do it easy to tear down if the city says boo.

Yep, put a diesel in that Caddy. It is way past time that you should have and old car,.....or truck. You are missing the fun and the attention. Thanks for checking in bud.

That Caddy does look like it could be a neat project........ a diesel in there could be a lot of fun!!!! Or use it for your 4x4 project!!

I ran across a guy sellign a 2002 powerstroke out of a parts truck for $1,000 I thought about it a while. he's keeping the 4x4 tranny I'd have to buy alot and I think it would be too heavy for my half ton 4x4 and I don't want to upgrade the drive train and suspension.

I decided to use what I already have for the ford...
Dana 44 front 9" rear, I have sets in both 3:42 and 3:73 gears, a 4 speed, and the 460
460 .030 over KB flat tops (10.75:1 compression)
.010 under rods and mains on the crank
crank journal needed line honed on the block
.520 lift on the cam and 290 degrees duration on a 114 degree lobe center peak power 4500 rpm
375 hp @ 4500 rpm
450 ft-lb torque @ 4,000

when it was full time 4x4 with the 3:73 gears and 33" tires I was getting 9-11 empty and 8 towing
I was hoping the switch from a c6 to a 4 speed and a change from the full time np203 t-case to an np 205 and lockouts would net me some more mpg.

I went with flat tops for the compression to run LPG and also so I could take advantage of the squish in a flat top design improving turbulence and burn efficiency>
The factory dished pistons have zero squish.

I think I'm going to tear the 460 down and check everything and polish the chambers. I had a problem with detonation on anything less than 91 octane premium from a trusted station.
I might CC the chambers and would necessarily bring the compression down a tad as a result of the polishing operation.

I'm also going to set aside the factory spread bore for a holly 750 and a good intake.
if the carb is undersized the vacuum signal will be too strong and will pull rich on the top end no matter how you jet it

I installed an edelbrock oxygen sensor kit into the Y pipe which comes in handy tuning
the sensor went bad when I burned out a head gasket with the pinging
I also lost a small fragment of one piston top near the valve release so I also will be replacing that piston and smoothing off the sharp edges
I wasn't sure if it would be necessary when I put it together but it is, I thought I was building it more like 9.5:1 but the 77 heads I have make it 10.75:1
I didn't cc anything the first time around I just went with "specs" of record

I don't want to go into winter broke again so I'm going to be very careful here
last broke winter was from buying a tig machine and another broke winter was from buying that olds regency and the regal parts car for the 350 diesel
I now have a 350 diesel sitting with 30k miles on it dead since 1995 over a broken head bolt...no water inside...awsome, cheap to rebuild...
But I've had them before and I've had the 6.2 also...
i WAS gonna drop the 350 back in all mr stock stockly stockerton but I saw some videos on youtube of caddies and such with the 6.2 in them and they haul butt pretty good and still get 18-30 mpg.

Have you seen the matrod?

I was thinking I like cars so much why haven’t I ever tried to get a job at a machine shop?
I'm going to see if I can part time somewhere for cheap to get into it.
