Its a 1951-52 plymouth cranbrook. Looks to be in decent shape. Body is solid except for the floorboard. There are a few parts in the trunk, but some parts are missing. How hard are parts to find these days, especially for this car? It has the original Flathead 6 and the 3 on the tree, no clue if either are any good. No radiator, grill or front bumper. At least that i could tell anyway, grill may be in the trunk. The guy said hed take a hundred dollar bill for it. The only major concerns that i have are parts. Also would this fit down on an S10 frame, or is it to fat?

Body number is: 10S-E 21918. Thats what the plaque said on the firewall, right next to the plymouth plaque on the firewall.

that car should work good on an S10 frame. my Sister/Brother in law had a 52 ( same car) but they sold it, the guy put a camaro subframe in it and it sits real nice.

Unless your are going to restore it for Pebble Beach how important are original parts :D When i was a kid those things
were disgustingly common on the roads. They were the cheapest of the cheap to buy 3rd or 4th hand. But now it would be a treat to see that up and running especially with that patina! Just wet sand the body and dash to knock down the crustyness and give it that handworn look.

congrats!

good to see you've found a project there man! the way those doors are light/white and the rest seemed possibly to be black maybe at one time, makes me think old cop-car.....way cool either way but i'd investigate the history--if the guy knows...he'll share-(we ALL love to tell car stories, don't we?) anyway get it home before it goes to SCRAP!

Earthman, i dont really care if they are original just needing parts in general. For instance, headlights and taillight lense, where would i get those? Also, could any glass place cut the glass that needs replaced?

hotrod preacher, never thought about that until you said something. Now there isnt any holes for a spot light, so i dunno about police vehicle. Never know though. As far as the history goes, there is no way ill be able to find out. The ppl that live there moved there about 15 yrs ago, and the car was there when they moved in. Never touched it or anything, had no clue about it except for its there. And they arent gonna take it for scrap cause they know im interested in it, so thats a good thing.

I'll bet you can find lots of parts in your area. My brother in Kansas is surrounded by yards with 50's stuff. Good lenses, etc. are on eBay all the time. Ply-Do is a company that has parts for your car, but they don't give them away. I've seen lots of different subframes under those years of Mopars. I finished the installation of dropped uprights, power rack & pinion, Ply-Do disc brake kit and a shock relocation kit on a '49 Plymouth. It would have been easier, cheaper and better to install a subframe. Good luck on your project.

It still has the glass and that's a plus. But how energetic are you? Personally my energy and resouces aren't what they used to be and I would spend a few hundred more to get something that hasn't been melting into the ground for 15 years, maybe 30.
Right now I have acces to a one owner 49 Fleetline for $200 that is all there and I have been in no hurry to get it home. It was parked many years ago with a rod knock.

Totally AGREE! I get so tired of hearing... "Oh keep the Buick a Buick".. "Don't put a different motor in it from a Chev or a Ford".. You know what... it's still going to be what it is, only I'm personalizing it and having fun! It will run, drive and handle well... no trailer queen or concourse resto.

Any place can cut that flat glass. As far as tail lites, i remember a Plymouth like yours with '52 Cadillac tail lites installed :) i luv this one.slant six

Yeah most of the glass is in the car still, but some of it is busted. Im thinking maybe three are busted or have a hole in them.

If the motor isnt locked up then ill probably get it rebuilt and use the original flathead 6. Just something about flatheads ive always loved. And im going to try and keep the three on the tree, so much fun to drive. Had a 61 ford unibody truck with the 3 on the tree, and it was a blast to drive. I have a friend that is a mopar freak, and a turbo freak, so if the motor is still good, then a flathead turbo may come into play :D. My main concern is the floor. Im not good at welding at all, and dont have a clue as to where to start on rebuilding the floor, but ill figure it out lol.

Thanks for the good thoughts yall. Cant wait til after the 4th so i can get started on it.

hey Ark, I will get a hold of a friend, him and his Dad build new floors for those cars, just havent been able to find his number but I will look this weekend for ya.

Floors are easy and a good place to learn, after all it will be covered up.
My daily was repaired with old road signs by a previous owner. Until right now he and I were the only ones that knew.

Ark, They are located in CT and do a great job on making the floors, I used their stuff on a 52 and it only took a little to fit them, was WAY easier than stuff ive got from other "known" places. I know Josh and should have asked what his Dads name was but ive always delt with Josh on the floors. His Dad does it full time now so give them a call. Number is 860-513-1118 and check out their website is www.rcarfabrications.com
