Don't know if this would be considered a tech tip so I put it here. I'm plumbing my brakes and because of the large kick up in my rear fame rails I needed a long brake hose. Mid 70's Ford 2 wheel drive trucks had long brake hose but they are hard to find so ordered one from Advance and picked up some 3/16 hard lines that I needed. When I got to da garage I examined the T fitting on the end of the hose and the threads didn't look to good so I test fitted a 3/8 x 24 fitting on the end of a 3/16 brake and it screwed right in, no problem. But after I mounted the hose and tried screwin one of the fittings into it, it wouldn't go. That's when I noticed the threads on the hard line looked "Funny", then I read the label on the hard line and it said standard flare/metric threads" ...metric fittings used to look like metric fittings but now there makin them look like standard threads. Gotta read the fine print!!:(

Here's a pic of the gooffy fitting on top, metric like I'm familiar with in the middle and us thread on the bottom...

yeah i had some of the same problems when i did the lines on my truck, but i found the hard lines are all the same size as fars as the the line it self goes .i just cut the ends off and flared them with the fitting i needed! this worked in moSt cases however i did have to drill one fitting to except the line but still worked greAT
