I sold my 48 F1 to a guy who is a member here back in December. He sent a check, I cashed it, and the truck is his. His member name is Allsailseven. He was still over in Afghanistan and said he would be back in January. He wrote me in January and said he was state side and probably wouldn't pick the truck up until the middle of March. I have been starting it and driving it to keep her ready to go since. But, I have not heard from this guy since January. I have sent emails with no replies. I just noticed that he has 3 posts on this site. What to do, except just hang on to it until he writes back or picks it up. I'm a little worried that something may have happened to him. It's kind of wierd for a guy to pay for a ride like this and not want to come and get it.

I would hold it for now. I also would send a registered letter saying if you don't hear from him you will charge storage fees. He will probably get back to you then and if not after a certain amount of time send a bill. I hope he is OK, and if he is a veteran I would cut him some slack and just mail him a request to know when he will pick it up. Then if you don't hear back in a couple weeks do the storage fees.

Issue with g.i.

You said he sent you a check so you probably have his name.Go down to the local recruiter office and they can probably get you the info you need. As far as the jump on the storage fee, thats one real nice way to support our troops ain"t it.As a disabled American Vet,thanks for trying to handle this the right and honest way.[cl

I agree.....

I think crossfire is correct... they might even try to contact him for you... otherwise, do the certified letter but not the storage fee's.... the poor guy could be having a problem or worse.....:( It's tough getting out and re-adjusting.... take it from a veteranl.....

The personel at the recruiters station can make some calls to his home base / port and find what the deal is. He might be deployed unexpectedly and in a sensitive location unable to contact you. I would keep it and see if I could contact him. A deployment can be up to 18 months too. I was in the USMC and sometimes we got 30 min notice to be gone for 10 months.

I agree with the guys. Does he have a wife or someone that could contact him? Like most said he could have been deployed last minute and be gone for a while.

That being said not everyone in the military is honest so keep on the defense... at least until you hear from him.

Last month I had some tires sold to a guy. Before he paid for them, he shipped out.
A friend of his told me that he left, and would have to pass on the tires. No hard feelings from me. Stuff Happens. I hope your guys is okay.

You can do the storage fee thing like 42Chevy said. Nothing says you have to charge him that in the end if he has a legit reason. First, I'd definitely want to know if he's been redeployed though.... or worse.

Let us know what happens...

I hope everything is ok for him. I see absolutely no reason to go on the defensive with the guy. I'd cut him all the slack possible and NOT charge or even suggest any storage fees.
I have had some stepkids and nephews come back and they can be a little scattered for a while.

Yeah, hey guys my only reason for my post was to see if anyone might know him. I think the moderator can see his name, but not sure if it would be right to just plaster his name on this thread. My main concern is that he is ok. That is my only concern. As far as storage fees and all that crap, that was never even considered, and will not be. Maybe he did get deployed at the last minute. If so, the truck is under a covered area beside my shop and with a car cover over it. I start it twice a week and drive it 3 or 4 times a month, just so the seals in the tranny don't start leaking. I'm gonna call the base at Fort Campbell and see if I can get some info. I don't even want to think it, but if something did happen to him, then his family needs to know where the truck is. Thanks for all the replies and advice. And , thank to you vets for your service.

Well folks, I got an email from the buyer of my truck yesterday. He is coming down this weekend to pick it up. Thanks for everyones help.
