So when I was crusin' around I saw this model airplane museum. Really?!? Someone obviously has money to burn! It reminded me of when I used to fly control line airplanes as a boy. My fav was the Baby Flight Streak... I even made Tripper Jr one when he was about 10 & he could fly better than I ever could! Here's a link to a BFS build a guy posted on a model airplane forum...

I'll be ordering a kit & will post a build thread as I go!

A neighbor had a couple of those when I was a kid, circa early 60s. I never did see him fly them but I remember that beautiful yellow Supercub that hung from the ceiling in his basement. I don't remember what the red and white one was.

Heheheh! My brother and I had some old plastic trainers in the day. They were supposed to survive some rough stuff. I remember they had wing sections that were strapped on with rubber bands and intended to come apart easily on crashes so you could put them back together and refly...
Don't remember what they were called exactly but blue and yellow stands out in the old memory banks. Mine didn't last long! When my brother and I got older and our sister had a son that was getting old enough, we found some similar planes one day before Christmas and decided to pool our money to give the nephew a neat present. That all went over like a fart in a space helmut when Uncledick wanted to show him how to fly it....Christmas day, take off ok, climb ok, climb, hey climb, naw, naw, BOOM! First wreck....total loss! Jeesh, I still feel bad but the story still comes up at Christmas times....

Doesn't surprise me, there are toy museums all other the place. About 10 years ago I visited the Marx Toy Museum in Wheeling, WV., as a toy collector, I have to tell you it's one of the best!

Funny... that was the 1st plane my cousin & I had too. We tore it up in no time but we sorta learned how to fly with it! An older cousin built a Baby Flight Streak & after seeing it fly we had to have one too! Those were definitely the good ol daze!

These planes were pretty fragile, all made kind of like the real thing only with balsa and doped fabric. I think he piled one up and decided it was to easy to wreck and too much work to fix again.
