Must do and must don'ts of LA?

My next trip out west is going to be taking me to LA for a few days. Is there anything/anyplace that should be on our list to check out or places to stay away from?

The wife and I should be in the area in early September.

In N Out Burger!!! = MUST. Get a double double animal style with animal style fries and a shake.

Tommy Burgers not bad if you like chili burgers.

That's my top two things that I miss about SoCal.

The only place I have been in Cali is Needles for 2 hours to pick up a nephew one time, I don't think I would be a big help.

Is it really that bad? Maybe we should head a little further north to see the ocean?

Not as bad as Chicago, but LA used to be pretty violent in areas. Haven't been out there in 28 years, and I don't plan on going back. I loved northern Cali, but from about the middle on down was to congested for a country boy like me!

LA freeways are the very definition of insanity.

1998. Four pale-white Canadians in a rental car... 100 MPH in the HOV lane... missed our turn for Anaheim... next turn... "wrong part of town".

I have no idea where we were, but it sure as **** wasn't Disneyland.

Make sure you know where you're going and how to get there...
