i keep hearing that people use mustang rads in model a grills. Will one out of 68 gt500 fit and will it be able to keep a 500 caddy cool ?

65-66 is the commonly used years of Mustang radiator in an "A" shell. I don't know if they are the same physical size as the 67/68 or not. If your radiator kept a big FE Ford engine (GT500) cool, I don't know why it wouldn't keep the Cadillac cool.

You need the '65-'66. Later models are too big to fit. Also make sure it is a 3-row for V8 cars. Available new from most any parts store. I have successfully cooled a Ford 460 with one, but it was close. It was an open vehicle, and still required a standard fan on the engine and a "pusher" electric fan in front of the radiator. You will probably have to do the same for the big Cad.

They are a viable option to spending $ 400 to $ 800 on a custom made aluminum or brass radiator, and I hear they do work ok, especially with a small block. Last one I priced was about $ 136 at Autozone.

Might want to check Summit for sales on Alum ones

I was able to purchase a large universal crossflow that fit my 63 Bonne nearly perfectly.....(mine was top flow originally) it was on sale for $135...... 1/2 the cost of Griffin or be cool...they sell the universals by size, height/width and left right inlet outlet.....etc..... good luck.... autozone does sell new ones for most models at DR's said for about a buck and a half or so.... so definately check with them for a direct fit replacement.... 65/66...did they use big blocks or just the 289/302? Not a ford guy.....[S don't remember a 390 or 428 in either of those years.... not sure if a standard rad for a 289 would cool a 500 caddie.... nothing ventured....nothing gained....

65 and 66 There were two rads. one was for the 6 cylinder and the other was for the 289 V8. there were the same size but the v8 rad had more rows which made it thicker

In 67-68 they had three rads. The six cylinder which is the same as 65-66, The 289/302 Rad with was a little bigger then the 65-66 but would bolt into a 65-66 . Then there was a FE rad they were longer then the 289/302 and had more rows which made it thicker.

I Got one

I have a v-8 mustang rad in my sedan with a BBC 427 tall deck and it does not keep it cool! I made a tank that holds 4 gal. of water and ran that on to a schoolbus rear heater then back to engine to add to the water capacity and that works now! With the xtra water and the xtra heater(rad) and the two electric fans that are on it ....it stays cool![cl

The Ol Daytripper had the rad outta a '56 Chev PU 6-bang that fit perfectly & cooled the stock Chev 350 really well!

mustang rad.

You can also buy an aluminum rad for the 65 66 mustang, three rows and it will keep it cool, 2 row alum. rad will cool better than a standard 3 row rad. so the 3 row alum. will work just fine, they even make a 4 row alum. check these out on ebay 130505151878 and 150555055372
