Just bought a 49 p/u. No dents and all there. Parked about 25 yrs ago.
It has a 215 six, with a 3 speed. Is the original motor and drive train worth restoring, or not worth the time and effort? If not, a 350/TH350 with a 9" rear end will probably be in order.
I picked this truck up for $1,400.00, so another grand or 2 I figure will be well worth the time and money.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

yup cant tell ya much without pictures. As far as the motor and trans goes what do you want to make this truck into?? just a driver? or a rod?

It depends upon how you plan on driving it and the look you want. Short or long trips. Reliability matters if you go far and or want air conditioning? Old motors are cooler but I wouldn't want to go far with one. Both ways work but it's all what you want. And we live for pictures here, so feed us some when you can. Good luck.

I went with the 350/350/camaro rear combo in mine and love it. I also did the S-10 frame swap.

Good, then half your work is done. You know what you want. That truck is way cool, nice stance, nice job. I'm looking into a build like that next for our shop. Our current job isn't too user friendly.
