Welcome to the RRR. You can do it for 3k if you are frugal and do most of it yourself. I have about that into my '42 Chevy and it is a great driver and built safe, but not finished.
I'm thinking about the 3K mark myself. I already have the engine and tranny laying arround, bought the cab, title and frame for $850 and the rear end for $50. I'll do all the work myself but can imagine that if I keep track it still won't take long for everything to add up. My wheel and tire choices may kill my budget...
