Some of you guys may have seen this over on KB, I thought I would put a post here too. I got it listed as a '48 over there it is actually a '47 I found out at the DMV. Lucky me, I managed to track down the orignal owner and he signed over all the paperwork for the orignal title. So it is a '47 Chevy pickup on an '88 Mitsubushi frame. The same guy gave me the Chevy body and the Mitsubushi pickup. The engine is another freebie it is out of a '86 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 that a neighbor gave me when he moved to town. The transmission (350 turbo) is out of my $100 parts car for my other project. The rear roll pan is built out of the hood off of an old Miller Bobcat welder that was given to me, the generator was burned on. The tail lights are '51 DeSoto. I bought a '51 and '53 DeSoto for $300, sold about $350 worth parts off of them so I don't have much in the tail lights. The steering colum and wiring harness is out of the parts car. Its got an old Ford flatty radiator that was given to me with the body. Drive line was given to me. I used the master cylinder and proportioning valve off of the Mitsubushi. Counting consumables, I figure I have about $100 in it. Still got a little bit of work to do, but it is almost finished. It took about 14 days of steady work to get it to this stage. Probably take a couple more days to finish it. Just little stuff left like building filler panels, securing the boards in the bed, and securing the front brake lines, etc. I am trying to decide if I should paint it flat black or leave it just like it is. It rides and drives great. Let me know what you think....
