I am new to rat rods. I have been custimozing my wehicales but have been mainly messing around with japanese cars. I have always had a love for older american cars and the array of modifications that can be done. Rat rods have this mean look to them that I am strangly attracted to. I am doing my research and had a couple of questions about frames. what do you measure to see if a frame will work with a body? I am wanting to do a coupe and wanted some sugestions on the car to be looking for? Thanks and love all the work you guys do. [ddd

First, welcome to the site.
Second, while there are several rats that are built by sitting the body down on an existing frame from a donor vehicle, most have a little more fabrication involved.
There are some s-10 builds, some look great, usually full fender builds. Some don't look so good. You just have to be careful on how much of the donor vehicle is in front of the axle. Be it a Dakota or Ranger, of s-10. You see I am mentioning mostly trucks, because they are usually not uni-body vehicles. Start reading the build section of this forum, and you will see what people are starting with.
Good luck.

ill just say it for everyone -
the best idea is to get your project - coupe- first then youll know EXACTLY what you need as far as a frame goes...
but theres a lot of planning that goes into it -
is it possible for you to build your own frame
whats your wheel base going to be
what kind of engine do you want to run
are you going to go fenderless
etc...
all of this comes into play when deciding on a frame
