I just got this for my 17 year old daughter. Project car. It's a nice clean 2000 PT Cruiser with leather and sunroof. 65,000 miles. PO hit a deer and boinked in the fender and headlight but also cracked the radiator and ruined the engine. Through some trading, I'm into it about $200. 88,000 mile junkyard engine is $800 locally. I'm hoping to have it on the road for under $2000. She's pretty happy. We'll probably get some sort of graphic like a splash so it isn't just another silver PT.

Word to the wise put a new timing belt and water pump in BEFORE installing the engine just because it's out......good insurance and way easier......I just did one and they suck in the car.

Yeah, I was looking at that and I agree.
It is a 2.4 but there are variations and I guess PT cruiser only. Seems like 04 and back and egr or not.

Make sure and check the front end out. PT's are notorious for bad ball joints and worn out control arms. Make sure the wheel lugs are tight too, that's another thing that happens is the lugs loosen up. We had one, they drive like a slot car when everything is right. Ours just suddenly wouldn't crank one day, had to change the plugs. If one or two get fouled, it must cut the spark to all of them. You have to pull the plastic intake just to get to the plugs!

When I saw the title of this thread I thought "If it's got wheels, there's nothing off topic." Then I saw what it was.... ;)

Dr.C has the right idea. Coolest PT I think I've ever seen. :D

Daughter got here from Texas 2 days ago, loves the car. We were looking at some old magazine ads and there was a 36 Terraplane. She said "that looks like a PT Cruiser", funny thing is, it actually kinda does. Maybe there's hope for her yet.
