Always wanted a panhead chopper. Here is the first piece. Probably end up a shovel though because it's all I can afford. I'd really like to do a 60s style pan. Springer extended with Ford wishbones, 21" front wheel, stock mechanical brakes. No suicide shift though.
This frame needs a lot of work. It was a hack job on the neck and stretch. I may end up with a whole new neck, backbone and down tubes. Nice thing is that it still has the side car loops.

Are you talking about building your own springer fork WB? That would be interesting to see.

Back before you just bought what ever front end you wanted, they took stock Harley springer front ends and extended the back legs with rear wishbones from 30s-40s Ford cars. The front legs are just extended with round tubing. Rockers, neck, springs and everything else is still stock parts.
Here's kind of what I'm going for, only less fancy

Wow, just reminded me of the time I had a 59 chopped panhead that I road from Madera California to Springfield Mo

Keep the pics coming WB.. I'm putting a 55 FLE back together. Gonna put it in a 77 frame with A 58 swingarm. Been riding ridgid frames forever. Thought I might give my kidneys a break!:D Looking forward to seeing your progress!![cl

Not planning on running a side car but it's just nice they didn't carve the loops off, I always like to see them still on a straight leg frame.
I know a kick start hard tail isn't most people's idea of a good ride but to be honest, I will probably never ride it more that 30 miles or so at a time. My elbows are shot and my hands/fingers go numb pretty fast. But I never get to take in any of the Sturgis rally because the only parking is for bikes .Also it'll probably be more of a rat bike.
Now if I can find someone to trade me a pan and tranny for my 41 Ford pickemup truck. Ideally I'd like to have a 53 because that's the year I was born, and one with ULH 80 inch flywheels already in it. Don't want much, do I?
