olds and gm merge

i was wondering.

how long was oldsmobile on there own before gm merged with them?

when i look up parts and such, it doesnt seam like they were together in the 30's.

you know when you look up a part and see it fits 18 different models that you never thought it would. well im not seeing it now for my 1933 olds.

GM bought Olds way back in 1908.

Kinda sucks they went out of business and Kia is selling cars like crazy.

Olds was my favorite GM make. It seems like GM kept the divisions pretty individual until after ww2.
I have the history of GM. They were absorbing other companies like crazey in the teens and 20s. The bought out Cadillac because they had the patents on the good bendix type electric start. Most of the time they offered a heavy dose of GM stock and little cash. GM even tried to buy out Ford. They agreed on a price with Henry and a deal was struck. They when they tried to pay with GM stock, Henry said "oh no, this is a cash deal" so it never happened (thank God).
Interesting though that the Durant name died out while Durant was still the CEO. I haven't figured that one out.
