I've decided to go with split bones on my front end and plan to use these from Speedway. (pic 1)

They have a 1/2-20 threaded roid for a spring hanger. I don't like the angled spring hanger (pic 2) they also sell. I can see that it's just a cap screw welded to some DOM.

So I'm thinking of using chromoly rod ends (pic 3), and cone spacers. They have a misalignment limit of 12°. My set up should only have 2° in the bones.

Then making my own shackles. (pic 4)

What do you think?

That looks like an excellent idea, I also do not get a warm fuzzy feeling on the cap screw welded to the DOM. On the shackles, you could incorporate the angle needed and have no misalignment as well.
