got a 29 4 door sedan plymouth.

in the process of redoing entire car but ran into some trouble upfront.

how can i get spindles and all that are modernized upgraded, i.e disk brakes and all newer stuff, when my front axle is set up with a spindle like connection???

most straight axles on the ends are just the middle piece. this has top and bottom pieces like the spindles would:

or do i need to change the axle the more common type? if we gotta change it i already know what i'm goign for. i'm just wondering and trying to save on parts, time, and aggravation.

Thanx for any and all help.

I have the same axle under a '26 Chrysler. For the record, the two types are "Elliot" and "reversed Elliot" types.
Measure between spring centers and find a more modern axle. A '46 Chev pickup is close to my Chrysler, but I'm going to shorten a '70 Dodge pickup axle to fit. Sounds spooky, but a good welder can do it. Not much forces at play in the middle of the axle.
