has anyone ever shipped a car oversees?my car seems to be getting bids from france spain and hungary.what will I have to go through if it sells to europe?

I have shipped large containers to England, and Germany. There was alot of red tape involved. It took alot of my time finding out what I had to have. Almost more trouble than it was worth. I also sold some stuff to a guy who did that kind of thing all the time. He knew the ropes and it was smooth.

(Just dont take a money order from Nigeria)

I used to do exporting for a company I worked for. It is best to have an agent in this country who knows the ropes of the country the item is going to. Lots of documentation (especially in the Mid East), things like Proforma invoices, etc.

As Bonehead said, certain places you do not want to take any funds from, even cash. It is also possible for your item to be held up in Customs or lost entirely if every I isn't dotted and every T crossed.

I would seek out an expert in shipping to that country and add those charges onto the total. Buyers over there are used to paying up charges. This is not the place for a novice to be playing......so many ways to get burned.

Don

JUST BE CAREFUL ABOUT HOW YOU GET PAID.Make sure its a legit wire transfer with real money.Dont even let that car go till you know the money is good. There are alot of real good scammers out there.Shipping the car should not be too bad.Might have to go in a container..

I sold a bike to a guy from Canada-Be aware that Paypal fees are STEEP for out of country transfers. I think they stick you for about 5-1/2% of the total.

I just sold a big block dart to a guy in the UK and the shipping was all his to deal with..................just had a transporter pull up to my front door and loaded the car and it was gone..................easy as pie..................nothing bad to report except there were some loose parts inside the car that they took out and now are disappeared because they said no loose items allowed..........................and this was an egay transaction by the way.

I never have much luck selling whole cars on ebay but on smaller shipable items I get a request occasionally to sell foreign. Some go smooth but many times it is just a hassle getting them to understand how I do business. I just let some guy from Mexico buy an old pro-link 9000 I had and it took 9 days to get a little paypal problem sorted out with him.

What IS the deal with the foreign bidders? The guy from Canada took almost TWO MONTHS to pay, and I sold a cassette deck to a guy in Norway that stalled over a month before he paid me. I'm at a point that I may block all the foreign bidders on my auctions just to avoid the hassle.

Big scam risk

After trying to sell a vehicle and a boat on Craig's list I was bombarded with offers from overseas countries that wanted to pay more than I was asking. Then I read up on the warnings posted for possible scams and most offers fit the templates perfectly. Apparently some banks may cash bad transferred checks and not really find out the problem untill a week later. Then they hit you with bad check fees and reinbursment . In the end your car is long gone and the bank want's their money back. I ended up selling locally for my protection.
