My friends Terry and Lee (Terry's wife) run a welding shop. They are building the 1931 Chevy coupe that is shown in the 'Builds' section. Terry & Lee are very generous and have frequently let me use shop equipment and have done plasma cutting and other stuff for me. It is hard to pay them because they are too kind.
Here's a picture of the sign on their building

Well, my friends are considering closing the shop and retiring in the next few years. They have recently built a nice large garage at their home, which currently houses a '37 Chev Truck and a Studebaker sedan cut down to Bantam coupe size, that looks like an altered. They have been decorating the garage with signs. Buying, selling & collecting automotive related signs has been a hobby of theirs' for years. In order to pay them back just a little bit for all the kindnesses shown me and give them a 'garage warming' gift, I thought a sign would be a good item. Here's the sign I had made for them:

This excellent copy of the large sign on their business was hand painted by Kathy Weeks, sign painter extraordinaire. Now Lee & Terry will always have something in the home garage to remind them of the business they ran for decades. Kathy is married to my every Wednesday lunch buddy, Barry, machinist extraordinaire and early Chevy truck specialist.

Its rare to find someone to hand paint a sign nowadays , most sign shops print everything on a computer , excellent work , is she the same person who painted your car doors ?

Yes, Kathy did the lettering on my Crosley. She also made this sign for my '27 Chrysler Tub when I had it in an indoor (horrors!) car show last year. It is a metal sign that she made look rusty.

I'll get pics of Terry's Studebaker soon. It's a really cool car.

See, that is one of those gifts that really mean something.......you gave it some thought and gave them something that will be a keepsake for years to come.

Look at the smile on her face! :D I don't think she likes it.............MUCH!! :D:D

Nice gesture.

Don

I need to make a clarification remark: The young lady in the picture holding the sign is Kathy Weeks, the exceptional sign painter, not Lee of T & L Welding. Lee (and Terry) were just as excited to receive the sign as Kathy was to paint it for them
