Can someone please tell me how many inches a Posies spring will settle. It is a 31" spring with a 2" below stock drop. I will be running a buick straight 8 engine that weighs 733 lbs with a saganaw iron 4sp behind it. I have read in other threads that it will drop approximately 2", however, none said anything about the length of the spring or the weight of the running gear. Thanks in advance, Randy

I've used that spring on fairly light, fenderless hot rods with small block Chevy engines. With a typical engine set back the spring drops 1 5/8" to 1 3/4". Since multi-leaf springs are progressive, you shouldn't see a lot more drop. I'd guess 2 1/2" if your heavy engine does not set over the axle, but is set back with the radiator over the axle.

You can call Posies (I've done it) and explain your set up. They could recommend a spring with more leaves.

Thanks Bob. The engine will set back about 12" from the axle, going to be a fenderless 35 dodge pu.
