I have used Photobucket for years to hold my pictures so I can post them, but they seem to have made a recent change. Someone on another forum alerted me that if they click on a photo I posted, it takes them into my Photobicket account and they can view the whole history.

There used to be a tab called Share Links, but that is gone, and all they have now is Share, which looks like it is allowing that to happen. What are the rest of you doing?

I also have been using photobucket for years but they seam to keep changing it and it hardly works anymore. I also am in the market for a new way to post pics.

No offense to any lady members we have here but it looks like a bunch of women run photobucket anymore...change after change and none is good...

I haven't been to my Photobucket account for months so I went there and copied this pic. See if it does what you're talking about.

The tag link is no longer on the thumbnail pic like before.

you have to click on the picture to open it up...then you will see you IMG link over on the right side...Then clink the IMG and it will say copied...paste into the thread body like I did on the pic below...

Old Iron, yes it opens on your pic that was posted but also lets the viewer cruise your entire bucket,,,,I'm not sure how long they've been doing that.
jfg, that's the way I've been doing it for a while. I'm not sure if the guys are talking about being able to cruise the entire gallery by clicking on it. I think it's been doing that all along. I post mine where they display well on the post to start with...never tried clicking on one after I posted to see what it opens...

pretty sure its always been set like that.. where you can access the entire users pictures that are set to public...

I learned this years ago when I posted a link to a photo on a restoration forum referencing something about the part and not my whole project... and crafty people saw what I was up to, some approved.. others did not.. lol

But you can create folders that are private and people wont be able to see the contents of those folders

here.. i highlighted my locked folders...

the one thing is you actually need to organize the photos.. cant just leave them in "your bucket" and we all know what happens to all your links if you move a photo.. so i use my bucket for all my truck pictures.. only move out the non truck related stuff.. cause there is far less of that

My tag links are still under the thumbs. Must be the way you have yours set up?

I have everything in mine set up in different albums, all are public. When I want pics of teh Lincoln, I go to the 46 Lincoln album. I named the album before I found out for sure that my car was a 47. I have a car shows album I put show pics into.

And I don't post nudie pics online. I keep them here at home. :D[ddd

I quit using Photobucket to post pictures... though I still use it as storage in case I burn (another) computer and its files to the ground.

Like the guys have said, my photos are public and free for the ''creeping" when an image is clicked... not my intention or will necessarily...

... I've become fond of posting directly to the forum from my computer... sometimes copied from Photobucket (to my computer files) and then to the forum, like this...

attachment.php

... click to your heart's desire... the image will not link to my Photobucket.

I'm pretty sure it's been that way for a long time. If you have your album set to private, then the image will still post, but nobody can look through your album and find out your secrets. ;)
Almost all of my albums are private, including my main album for posting on here. I'll sometimes set albums to public for cars that I have for sale. The last thing I need is some crazed paparazzi looking through my PB account, and tracking me down at my house!

Photobucket gets progressively worse at each "update", but I like that when I post pictures on here, anyone can see them. You don't have to have an account and be logged in to see them. The other thing, I think, is RRR has to be able to host whatever we upload, and I think the way that works, is that it costs more when the site is bigger. Pictures take up a lot more data than text, so I let Photobucket host the pictures, and RRR just hosts the link, saving Tripper some dough.

I don't think it lets anyone into your whole photobucket, just the folder the pictures are in. You would have to be able to log in to have access to the whole account, even I have to do that. I generally put car pictures in a folder that's all cars. Even so, I don't have anything over there that I care if someone sees.

It does allow access to your entire library, unless you block the albums. I can download, email, link pictures, or even download entire albums with about two clicks on most of your PB accounts. Some of you use your first and last names on your PB accounts too.

It might be just fine on here, but as soon as you start using it for ebay or craigslist ads, then you have people creeping through your pictures looking for addresses and pictures of your valuables. Plus, when a picture is "public" you don't own it. Pictures of your kids, grandkids, neighbors, or anyone else, are fair game for whatever.

Most of the time it's no big deal. Other times, I don't want just anyone knowing what's in my house, with my address.

Some people don't worry about it because they wouldn't do things like that, but that doesn't mean that someone else wouldn't.
